jdm nissan, looking for bike!

My situation, please help!!

whats up guys, so here i am stuck with outta car....i have a 2007 mazdaspeed3 that i got when i was 16 for my birthday from my mom. now about 2 weeks ago, i blew the motor (cracked block, bent rod, pistons out, blown head gasket) ya i need a new motor. so all said and done its atleast 4 grand to get a new motor and what not put in. So now i just turned 18, and ill honestly say im a spoiled kid as a lot of you know. but i talked to my mom and i want to buy my own car with my money. Right now i think im gonna take the parts that i bought for my car and sell them, along with some other stuff at home and see what i can get. like new coilovers, intake, bov, turbo inlet, and brand new never used wheels. Ive been working since i was 15 luckly so i have a few hundred left lol but im hoping to have about 3-4k to work with. I really want a 240 and am leaning towards doing it, but doing it right. but i also hesitate about running into tons of problems obviously. Im goin to bucks next year, but then college, so im considering just getting something that will hold me over and be reliable until im outta college, then get something serious. I also plan on getting about 4 thousand for graduation. so around may if i waited i could deff have about 8 grand...i just dont know what to do, never been in a situation like this, and im not always good with money management. I would love if you guys would give me good advice instead of beaking at me or something. cause if thats the case ill have my mom buy me a better car and say **** you and **** on you. but no i want to grow up and be mature...so help a kid out.
thanks

Best way to do what you wanna do would be to get a daily and a project. Its REALLY tough to mod the car you daily, ESPECIALLY if its a 240. Ideal scenario would be to fix the mazda and daily it, and sell the go-fast parts off it to pay for your 240 project. Theres no shame in accepting help from your parents- its the kids that dont appreciate those opportunities that are an embarrassment. I respect your desire to build your own car with your own money, but thats a time consuming process that a student often cant afford. The only solution is a 2nd car, in my eyes.

I like 240s and all, but they are pieces of ****. I'd take the brand new car that will have a new motor over some beat 20 year old car. Take the left over money and put it towards your future and not just a car. This should be a no-brainer man.

Save your money for college. It is much more important then a car. If I could do it all over again I would of had a beater until I was 25.

how did you blow the motor? and 240s are junk as said above. if you just want to be mature about it... get a corolla and goto school. because I must say... car payment + school payment blows.

dont mod a dd... i have a honda that is bone stock cept for lightly tinted windows, and a 500whp nissan 240sx... all cars are junk period, if a company made a car that wasnt junk they would go out of business for lack of resales and lack of selling parts and service...its all part of the game

cause i want a car through college and to have during summer and what not, and janky i dont know what your trying to say...ive been around racing and stuff with motors for a while, ill learn. like i just turned 18, what, now im a poser? are you gonna call every one who wants a 240 a poser?
and yea college is paid for, idk ill prob get something to chill with till college graduation. then after im sure my parents and grandparents will get me somethign as my cousin just got a car for his college graduation.
and eddy dont come to me, this is a serious situation, his ****s just dumb...

as far as modding a dd. i think what im gonna do is pick up just a stock s14 with little rust as possible. keep it stock till june but pile up some parts and do what i can then after hs graduation ill have a lotta money, and swap it with an rb or sr. im not worried about it being my daily, we have 5 other cars, and me and my 2 parents are only ones that can drive....

Eh you do what you want anyhow...But i think getting a 240 is stupid, Your letting idiot friends influence your decision on cars just because you have a chance to do something with a car they want but will never own.

I'd much rather see you in a new car with a warranty that will last a few years than some car older than you are falling apart 24/7 connor.

What happened to the engine? Was there a thread on MSF? Tough break, good luck on the next car.

fix the car you have take the rest of the 4000 dollars youll get from graduation and put it into a mutual fund or or high interest bearing savings account. soon enough your going to be out from your parents wing and your going to have to learn something about money management. seeing as you admitted to being terrible out it now you might as well start learning the value of a dollar now as your going to go no where in life if you dont understand how to manage your money. im not ****ting on your cause your spoiled as i have had many friends with wealthy parents and they are dead beats now cause they didnt learn the value of a dollar and just rode the wave of their parents money.

I would sell the MS3 as a roller and sell all the parts like u said. then:
1. Buy a 2000-2001 Integra in good shape ($3000-5000max) and if ANYTHING, keep the modding mild and clean - coilovers, maybe a catback, etc... you need to start saving more money, instead of throwing it all into your car.
2. Start treating your car (DD anyway) as a mode of transportation, not like a toy. that way you won't find yourself in this position again.
3. Thank your mom for hooking you up so much and putting up with you. lol.

lets face it. you'll never have a nice 240. especially if you buy one around here. but if you wanna mod a daily do it. dont let these pansies tell you otherwise.

I've been down the same road as you man- but I was able to trade my jaguar with engine problems into the mazda dealer before it popped completely thank god. So this wasn't the best car to buy at age 16 because of the repair costs, this is now obvious. However, I would recommend taking your $4k grad. money and fixing the car. Mabye your parents will help if you don't get the whole $4k or it ends up costing more. Ms3s are pretty decent cars, I don't think you would save much in the long run buying an $8k beater and maintaining/fixing that. Fix the ms3 and take the hit. Next time get ext. warranty.

If you absolutely want to ditch the car; you should definitely see $6-7k on ebay for it. Take that money if your car is paid off, plus your grad money and part out money, and put that as a down payment on a cheap brand new car with a warranty to get you through college and beyond. Then see if your parents will cosign the loan for the remaining $10k and you take on the payments. Once again if you can't, maybe your parents will help- who cares what others think about that. Yea I bought my own cars at 18, but I have friends who didn't and I don't blame them for it lol. Their parents wanted them to have reliable transportation to school. They weren't like u have to walk to learn the value of a dollar.

BTW I know its a long shot but did you call your insurance company and see if you could file a claim for your engine blowing?
