I have never used paypal before and i am bout to use it for the first time what are the basics i should look for to make sure i dont get scamed

Make sure if you ever get an email that says funds have been transfered to actually log into your account not using the link in the email to verify. Many fake PayPal emails out there. Other then that, its really no different then using a credit card to buy something.

Dont send any money as a "gift" unless you trust the person youre sending it to. Sending money as a gift allows you to skip the paypal fee, but will leave you unprotected if the person takes off with your loot.
