What Tint Would You Do?

For my '98 Techo Violet M3:

Option 1: Rear 3 windows (2 sides, rear windshield) a fairly dark tint - 35-45% maybe?

Option 2: Rear 3 windows and 2 front side windows - 70% all the way around.

Option 3: Something else - options?

I'm 35% all the way arround with no police issues. I think cars look really dumb when its different in the front then in the back.

And.... this thread is going to get good.

You honestly won't be happy with 70% tint. I'd go with 35%-45% if you're worried...neither of which are dark. I just did mine in 50% and am loving it.

I wouldn't have anything other than 5% on the back, but that's legal here... Might as well do it as dark as you want on every window if you're in PA since everything is illegal.

I have either 30% or 35% on 5 windows in my celestial blue Mazda3. Sometimes I think I would've liked darker but I'm definitely happy with what I got.

Either way, my car sticks out like a sore thumb and i don't have any problems with cops. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're driving around giving cops a reason to pull you over. Then there's always the chance they could call you out on the tint on top of everything else.

FWIW: I was pulled over in my former Dodge Dakota and told to remove the tint within 10 days or I'd receive a citation. It was lowered, looked nice, big V8, etc. Not sure of the tint percentage, but it was fairly dark. I drove for 2.5 years with no issues, then was pulled over the week I sold the truck. I was at a stop light, leaving Wawa. The light turned green, I drove out, a LEO was sitting in the cross traffic at the light. Low and behold, he ran the red light as I finished my turn and initiated his traffic stop.

Photos of the truck:

I just don't want to deal with pulling out window tint again and removing that nasty residue.

that floor is dirty geez. u live in jersey. its random. My friend has an all white TL with tint all around and has not been pulled over. 70% is just waste of money. might as well just not have no tint. 35% is what i usually get but I'm in PA. still can get pulled over. are you doing it for looks or to block out the sun. does help in the summer days.

Option 1, 35% since you have light interior you'll be alright... with darker interior you have to go lighter b/c it looks darker.

I went 30% on my old car and never had any issues. As long as you aren't being stupid while driving, generally they won't pull you over for tint unless it's really dark (20% or less)

Thanks to the guys at SOG, I am most likely doing 35%.

I am in PA btw... Brick in Jersey is just the shore house.

I ended up with 35% all around and I've been that way for over 2 years now. I've been pulled over without a front license plate and with the tint and I haven't received any tickets or harassment.

35% is nice because it's not as dark and on a darker car it blends in a little bit better. However, I can barely see out mine at night unless there's light there so any darker must be terrible for night visibility.

in delaware if its 4 door the rear and back 2 windows you can do w/e tint but the front door window tint is illegal in any tint so i went 2.5% all the way around

i figure if they are gonna pull me over i minus well do it as dark as i can
