Just be careful. I have the APS 65mm and I got some water in the intake (long story) during a nasty storm. If I didn't have to retune the car I'd have a short-ram on there now.

that car barely sees the road let alone rain so I don't really think that's a concern of his

APS 65mm is stupid easy to tune for and the 70mm is too. I don't know anything about the PW. The SPT is a heatsoak hog, good move ditching it.

get 1320 to tig up a custom intake that only goes just into the fender, and not way down low like a CAI

The PW one is like that. The filter connects to the pipe right after the fender. Like my buddy said too it doesn't see rain or snow. I think the only way it'd be in danger is when i wash it lol.

Ryan, since you're getting the car for the tune down the road this year, what would you recommend based off my mods in the 1st post? I'm heavily leaning towards the PW CAI sinc ei have the PW TMIC....

Don't know anything about the PW, but I have had a APS CAI on my car for years. The filter connects right away as the intake passes into the fender so it sits as high as possible. I drive the car in all weather and no issues. I do always make sure that I have my plastic fender liner in place and in decent shape to avoid any major water splashing, etc. When I wash it out a lot of dirt does rinse out of it, but thats to be expected.
I'd tune for any intake though... Subies are sensitive to intake changes.

Thanks guys for the opinions. I decided on getting the Process West 65mm CAI to match my TMIC by them. It's basically the same intake as the APS...Ryan's going to eventually get the car to tune. Definitely by Dec 2011 (gives me time to get the supporting mods i need yet).
