Looking to replace 05 Magnum RT AWD.....but with what?

My dad has had the car since new back in 05. He loves the car but may be looking to freshen things up a bit. Problem is theres no really "good" replacements that are anything like the magnum was back in the day. He does want something with some get up and go, AWD is also a must here. He also wants something that does better on gas mpg than the magnum. He needs a wagon or at least something big enough to carry alot of piano parts for his business.

Im aware of alot of the options out there and have been looking into it for a month or so now. My parents thinking is that the more money they spend here, the better the car must be and the longer it must last.

They just looked at the 2011 Ford flex, and the lincon version, but my dad didnt like them enough to ditch the magnum for. One car we do have our eye on thats coming out is the new VW Toureg Diesel......theyre sayin 380hp 430tq, and i have seen tests of highway mpgs reaching into the 30s.....only issue is price which starts at 60 ish and could reach the 70s with alot of options. so if theyre gonna spend that, it had better be damn good. Same goes for the diesel BMW X5, and diesel toureg as well

Theyre also willing to look used to a certain degree.

theres other considerations, but I want to hear your input on this.

The Magnum can't be replaced yet, it's in a class of it's own.

Is the typical wagon to small for them?

Outback, Forester? Mazda's CX- suck on gas. Chevy is well... Audi has that Q thing I think is hideous?

Has he drove a Edge, my grandparents just bought one and they love it. Unlike the Flex it is not offered with the ecoboost (yet). IIRC, the engine choices are lacking.

What about a used Cayenne? I have no idea of them accept for I'd love to rock the fam in one.

Sit him in a C63amg- he can rent something ute wise if needed

A slightly used diesel Mercedes GL320 would probably fit the bill pretty well. Lots of space, lots of luxury, AWD, and the MPG's of a diesel.

Found this 2008 on ebaymotors with 28k miles for around 50k.

I just took delivery of this today. It's a stock photo, but tell him I'll let him whip it for a week, plenty of cargo room, and it's a hatchback. haha

If only BMW made and AWD 335d wagon. or if we had the S4 avant here, or if we had the Volvo S60 T6 Wagon here, or if they still made the toureg V10 tdi.

so many good options that should be made, or are made elsewhere, but arent here. **** all this **** lol

New Jeep Grand Cherokee? It's been selling nicely, and since he's got a Magnum, he could get a loaded one and possibly negotiate for a discount.

Subaru Tribeca? (Not sure if it's still in production).

Totally forgot about this. Hands down the closest replacement to the Magnum. It's gotten good reviews as well
