look up the code, but sounds like maybe a TPS code or a MAF code, very typical, try cleaning the throttle body out, but look up the code and post what you get first before anything

If you stop by when I'm open I'll scan it for you just to see if there are any codes. Could be a throttle body issue or many other things. Have you had any battery issues or had it unplugged at all lately? Anything happen right before this started acting up? I could name 100 things to cause similar issues but if the check engine light is on get a code and that will lead us to the right repair.

Nah i don't mod that car. Its my DD so i need the damn thing. Advance Auto scans for free and is 5 mins away so im going to take it after work tomorrow. I didn't mess with the battery at all since i bought it 2 years ago. I think its the MAF, i might need it cleaned/replaced if thats what the code is when they run it.

The MAF could - all that really means is that the car is dumping fuel but not starting right away. Best thing to do is just get a scan and see what codes come up. Some codes don't show up with the advance auto scanner, but try that and let us know what codes come up. I wasn't planning on charging but I am a bit further away than 5 minutes
![]() We could guess all day long but with nothing to back it up all we are doing is guessing.

i still dont get how people get these that have X number of problems and in 2 years and at least 30k miles Ive had 1 "serious" problem and fixed it myself costing no more that $300 (wouldve been cheaper but I got more expensive different/upgraded coil packs)..
and the 2.0 is supposedly infinitely more reliable than the 1.8t. what kind of dealership doesnt fix their mistake... wtf.

I'm likely going to fix it using the Parts Car Jetta for the Coolant Temp Sensor, and then sell the Jetta. I've had enough of it. It runs great when its good but i don't trust it anymore. It's a shame because i like the car a lot but enough is enough. I possibly have a 08 Civic w/ 25k on it for $10,000 lined up.
