Burned out clutch?

Okay my car is practically brand new. Its an 05 wrx with about 9600 miles on it. It was the lot demo at reedmans for most of its lot life so alot of people drove it, test drove it and beat on it, No i have it and drive it fairly hard.

Today I was going to work and driving up a hill when i saw the lady in front of me slow down to turn, naturally I dropped from 4th to 3rd and let out on the clutch. It felt like the clutch never fully disengaged. So I shifted back to 4th still no change. By this time the smell of clutch was seeping in and I knew I had burn the clutch some.

As I got to the top of the hill I dropped down to 4th again from 5th and the back end started to hopp. So I put the car back into 5th again and repeated and it did it again. So i pulled over and gave it a minute.

Now it drives fine except pulling off in first I have some vibration in the clutch pedal and the car still friggin reeks. Did my clutch finally go after all the abuse of is this something else?

my clutch went like that except i was stopped. i put it in first let out the clutch and when it went to engage the car jerked like crazy. the smell won't go away. does your car jerk under acceleration? because if it doesn't, it will if you have a burned clutch. i would upgrade but do a lot of reasearch before!!

In the event that its the throw out bearing, you might as well do a clutch, no sense in spending money to take the trans down for a throw-out bearing without doing the clutch at the same time.

I dunno man, its modded now, the dealer is not an option now. There are alot of kids on here who can work on subies, contact some and see if they know. I mean no sense in not having it looked out since its making you mad.

Take the mods off for now and send it back to the dealership. The last I heard Subaru was one of the only car manufacturers who actually warranties wear and tear items like clutches.

9600 is way too low of miles for the clutch to wear out. There are possibly other stuff wrong with it.

What's it going to hurt if you take it in to the dealership. Even if they deny your warranty you still get an idea of what is going on. And depending where you live there might be some people on here that actually work at a Subaru dealership. Just make sure you don't go to Colonial Subaru without getting a hold of someone here first because I've heard some bad things about their shop already.

I talked personally to the tech there and he said theres no way that my turbo back exhaust is going to be a direct link to a transmission problem. Im going to take my MBC off before I go in with the car.

that sux for that guy. but the idea of a warranty is to cover manufacturer defect. with every dealer ive ever heard of, unless they can prove that the aftermarket part directly caused the failure it is covered under warranty. trust me doing warranty work sux because i get payed half the time i would for warranty than i would cash, but thats the business.

They usually only void your warranty if aftermarket part is directly involved with the failing part
