thanks, great to be back. I got a job out here working on helicopters that SEEMED great, you get paid alot but they make up for it by charging an arm and a leg for everything. I mean I didn't think about it before I came over here but every food source is imported and they tax the crap out of beer, but all in all its good.
now to the cars, there's all kinds of ferari's, lambo's, slk's, veyron's(if that's how you even spell it) around here but the actual car tuning scene sucks. You won't really see too many modified cars and if you do almost none of them have any work done to them whatsoever by the owner. plus the laws regarding mods are very strict. But the great thing is that I have one of about 14 240's in the country. Imagine that a whole country without 240's. It reminds me of when i got my first one in 2000, people are like what's that car, oh and a sr20 front clip is 700 dollars on the high end because there's no one to buy them. another thing there's no integra's anywhere. It's like the most seen cars back home are no where to be found and the most exotic are all over the place. The EVO is king here, it's the most tuned car in this country and you see about 20 a day also the holden's are all over the place. my car pretty much sucks at the moment so not photo worthy at all. It was the only 240 available so i just bought it because it was the only one around. slowly i'm getting parts together, but shipping parts from the states and the uk gets pretty expensive fast and i keep getting reminded by my wife that we came to make money not spend it all on my car. Maybe i'll make some kind of build diary and show you guys all the little ghetto places i have to go to find bolts, hoses, sandpaper and pretty much anything you can find at any autozone, pepboys, advance. I miss those places so much!!!!

Thanks for sharing a bit, I'm sure many of us have no idea what its like there but are curious. Sounds really interesting.
So would you say that the cost of living totally offsets your increased pay? Do you have plans to stay there long term?

I would say i'm still better off pay wise here than if i stayed in philly, also our quality of living is alot better. I'm here with a family so costs are higher, schooling, housing, groceries. for a single guy or couple with no kids it would be much better as long as you don't get carried away at the bars and clubs on the weekend, the night life is definitely there to blow your money on. Some things get to you as an american with all our freedoms, not saying its a communist state or anything but the freedoms, especially of speech, are no where what we are used to. Its really not a bad place to live but you always feel a little uneasy because its not your country and no matter how long you are here you'll never be a citizen and people get kicked out the country for some of the dumbest reasons, like giving the finger or kissing in public. It's a very liberal country in this part of the world and These cases are few and far between, but they are still there. people that have been here for a pretty long time don't seem to worry as much maybe after another year i'll be less jittery. There's a saying here among expats that goes, " you have two buckets one holds the crap you deal with and one holds cash as soon as one fills up its time to go home." but at this point we are planning five years all together to save up for a house and then go home. my wife just picked up a slr cam so i'm sure we'll be going around taking pics soon there are some really nice looking places in the city.
