I went out last night and shot some pictures of my friends Evo 8. I am not completely happy with the way they came out because, well, it was immediately apparent when I got home that my settings were a little off.

But for spur of the moment, the car saves the shoot by being pretty damn clean. With that said, I've always wondered how they do the shot in the magazine where the hood is there, but looks clear. So I took 2 angles and have been playing with it this morning.

I will also say first that I now see that we should have flipped or moved the car around to get more lighting, but for the most part, I think I'm doing ok.

Right after i walked outta pep boys earlier i noticed this evo sitting on the side of the building. I think I may of actually seen you there too if you were there. Evo is real clean and those gauges look real good.

And how do you do this?

lol yeah we were in that area today picking up some stuff for my buddies other car.

What you do is you set up the tripod and take one shot with the hood closed, one shot with the hood open without moving the camera or changing any settings.

then in photoshop you open both pics, and copy the one with the hood closed and paste it on top of the one with the hood open. Then you use the eraser tool at whatever opacity you want (in my case I believe it was like 45%) and then "erase" the hood

ive been trying to do this but couldnt get it thanks for the help. Now I just gotta figure out how to do it with my dads vette.
