good day for a mod

i got home from work today and it was soo warm out ! I thought to myself, it would be silly to not work on the car today. so i decided to port and polish my throttle body.

here are some shots

before

before (notice screws sticking up)

during

after

the car felt a little more responsive afterwords. almost the same feeling you get after doing ic hoses, just not as much.

Good job! Looks good. On my DSM I shaved down the shaft a little bit too and put a bevel on the throttle plate. I swear it was good for 2hp. But that is what I say for all the port and polish work I do, lol.

thanks guys. I left the bottom little shoulder just in case it effects idle. and left the top slightly blunt to avoid it cutting into the silicon hose.

i used a carbide bit, sand stone, flapper wheel, crytex bit and finally a polishing wheel. The whole project took about 3 1/2 hours. not bad, but man my arm was numb after.

Bryan was complaining of numb fingers for days. Just something you have to get use to when you P&P, lol.

so did you just work on the tb inlet and not the outlet? doesnt look like you messed with the ridgd where the flapper seals shut... i didnt either.
i really only worked with the first inch or so of my tb inlet to taper it a bit because i didnt want to go too far and mess anything up.
its easy to get to so maybe down the road i'll work on it a bit more.
anyways, looks real good and i'm interested to know your technique on this and what you did and didnt touch.

Exactly what i did. about an inch. I don't want to mess with anything that may need to be there.
Did you do the throttle body coolant bypass? I was going too, but i don't want too until i know exactly why it is there to begin with.
