Gettin a job at a dealership..

Gettin a job at A nissan dealership as a salesman. My question is, how do dealerships pay their salesmens. I know its commision based but do u get anything else like a weekly check even if u dont sell a car. Its prolly a dumb question but this is my first job as a car salesman. I know every dealership is different but i just want an idea.

You get **** base pay and usually depends on pre-owned and new cars on commission.

Honestly, just hustle whatever you can period.

this sounds like a fine question to ask a prospective employer before accepting a job offer

Every dealership is different, but it's usually something like $8 an hour base or what you made in commission that week. Whatever happens to be higher.

car sales is awful. not being debbie downer just being realistic. i worked at acura for a couple years, the money was in used cars, but people are ****ing gay. i cant imagine trying to sell cars now with everyone being super jew and thinking they know how to negotiate. just irritating to me haha. sorry for the negatives. we had a $300 a week draw which meant you had to earn at least that to break even, if you didnt it carried into the next week. sometimes youd work 60 hours a week for a month and not sell ****. do the math.

It's just like anything else, if you work in the right place and can move cars, you will make good money.

That being said, you're selling 30K+ items against people who have a ****ton of experience. Better learn fast.

Gettin a job at a dealership..

I've been selling for almost 4 years now. It's feast or famine. I'd advise against getting into the field unless you can deal with crappy hours & people who look at you like you're a piece of garbage. These are your customers & sometimes managers & coworkers.
