Part-Time job offer "Speed Shop" sales associate: Lancaster, PA

Before I say anything else, I'll start with the scheduling requirements:

You MUST be available any evening, and EVERY weekend unless prior discussions have been made.

Evening shifts are 5pm to 9pm Monday-Friday

Weekend shifts are: Saturday 4pm-8pm and Sunday 9am-6pm

You will not be required to work every shift, as there is one other part time employee so you will be sharing those hours.

You will receive an average or 15-20 hours per week.

Pay will depend on your qualifications, the company base pay is just above minimum wage.

Moving on:

This is a job offer in what is called a sub-store for Pep Boys.

They have integrated this "Pep Boys Speed Shop" concept into three stores in the country.

The store, is inside a Pep Boys supercenter on Rt. 30 in Lancaster.

The store sells a vast variety of performance parts, and accessories from most of the major manufacturers.

This is no longer just the typical garbage that you are used to seeing from the large auto stores...we do still offer that as there is a market for it though.

The store stocks, Ebc and Brembo brakes, A variety of Energy Suspension products, Mickey Thompson tires for all applications (trucks, slicks, even drag radials), Russel Fuel fittings, A large edelbrock variety, etc...

Basically anything you can find in a Jegs or Summit catalog our store either stocks or can get within' a few days.

We also offer products for the tuner scene ranging from Turbonetics, to Mishimoto, Skunk 2 and more.

So, Your job is not only to sell the product but to know what you are selling.

Our staff must be knowledgeable as our customers rely on us to help them with their projects. They need us to know what to recommend, and to help them get past obstacles that they may not have enough personal knowledge to do on their own.

I do not expect you to know everything as no one can do that, but you need to have legitimate knowledge in a variety of areas.

The majority of our customers are the older era muscle cars guys so it will be very helpful if you have experience in that area.

However, we also have many customers with turbo cars, modern muscle, and modern imports so you've got to have that variety.

I am essentially looking for my replacement. I have been working part time here for fun mostly, however with an infant daughter at home I'd much rather spend my time there than at the store.

Job requirements:

-Basic Cashier work, completing sales with a computerized register

-Parts look up via several sources including the Pep Boys system, Keystone's internet site, as well as paper catalogs

-Knowledge sharing, your customers are looking for answers and hoping you have them

-Housekeeping, when the store is not busy you will be expected to keep things tidy. Shelves should be fronted and faced, floors should be swept and clean, the showcase should be clean as should the area behind the counter.

-You will be expected to help out in the regular store as well, essentially with the same tasks as in the Speed Shop.

-You are expected to help every customer that approaches you with the same care, whether they are looking for a Speed Shop item or something as simple as a wiper blade

As far as applying for a job please start with a PM to me.

Or feel free to email your resume to Fazdagt@yahoo.com , just pm me to let me know to look for it. Make the subject "Speed Shop"

I'd also like to know about your Automotive background, so please attach a document with a page or so explaining what makes you qualified for this position. You can also just send that to me via a basic email.

If I like what I read I will discuss it with my boss and we will get in touch with you to set up an interview. He has asked me to do my best with helping him fill the void that I am leaving behind.

Please read this entire post through before getting excited and telling me you want the job.

The most important things to note are these:

-You need a variety of automotive knowledge
-You must be available nearly every weeknight and every weekend
-You must be reliable, tardiness and calling off are not acceptable.

Thanks Guys, and I look forward to hearing from qualified individuals

I'd also like to note that the largest perk for me in taking this job part-time is that Pep Boys employees receive a 20% discount on parts, and 10% on tires. I have a fleet of vehicles and the money I have saved on parts has made it more than worthwhile to work for the company. The discount only applies to in stock merchandise, or something we can have shipped in from another store or warehouse...so don't take the job thinking you'll save a ton of performance parts, because that likely won't happen as a lot of stuff is ordered in. Its essentially beneficial for routine maintenance, and tires and such for your daily driver.
