Boosted cars have smaller gaps to avoid blowing out under pressure, mine are gapped to 38, and another local had his as far down as 19 and was still blowing out spark on a highhhh boost application.

I run coppers. Change them every 6 months or so just for the hell of it. I see no need to drop 55 bucks on plugs. I'm not that lazy where I can't change my plugs twice a year. I can run nice fresh plugs for almost 3 years before I get to the cost of iridiums.

What happens if you "blow the spark out"? What does the car do?

I use NGK Vpower (coppers) on My 240, and i used them on my SC300 with NO ill effects.
Ill be damned if im going to pay 25-40$ on plugs. Only thing you are really paying for is longevity. Unless you have a upgraded spark system and wires that can benefit from these upgrades... even then it is marginal. Better off getting a grounding kit, or some worthwhile engine mod.

I run the copper BR8ES's and will change them out when I go to the track no matter how many miles on them. That's the good thing about going with copper. They're cheap to replace so you can do it often enough that you don't have to wonder if they're bad.

True.
True. True. But like I said: Nissan guys like them, so I figured I'd give them a shot. If I don't like them then I know for next time. But I'll never know if I don't test them out myself.

ive been running the same set of ngk iridiums in my sr20 for 4 years now. it sees 14+ psi everytime i drive it. they last forever. that is why newer cars rec plugs @ 90k instead of the prev 30k.
i also run them in my stock 91 honda hatch. 70hp, two injectors, probably the weekest ignition system ever made. 50k miles later and everything is smooth still. Last edited by ho1ywars; 08-27-2009 at 08:01 PM. |

well....i've rocked the BKR7E's for a little, then threw in the iridiums...if you put the plug and wire up against the head, youll see which has more spark, the ngk-r's have alot more spark then my iridiums, but i might have gotten a dud pack..who knows.
do not use the bosch iridiums, they look better cause of that four prong thingy. but everyone says they suck with ka's. |
