Im showing hate towards you?? No..not really, I have respect for Subaru guys, but if people are gona say the miata is a gay car, then I can easily come back with facts about Subaru and their gay ties...it works both ways man. I have nothing against any cars really, I just dont like some of their owners. I wasnt around when the site was first started, so I wouldnt know who it was started by. I dont care if people vote the poll, its just the stupid **** some of them argue with such as "oh i see a lot of girls driving them", it doesnt make it a girly car, just like Subaru's gay support doesnt make them a gay company.

Cleanneon, if your happy with you car, it just doesn't matter. I know people that think Evo's are ghey (not the same way people consider yours to be), but I love my car and just don't care.

Eh, after not being on TST for a couple months (waaayyy too much going on with the new baby and work) this was the perfect thread to come back to.

I have driven several Miata's and have a few in my fleet. At 6'4" and 275lbs. I do actually fit in the car. I also think they are an absolute blast to drive and are very capable cars. Just look at the SCCA. Spec Miata is probably the most competitive racing series there is. However, that doesn't shake the cars general image. No one that isn't into hardcore racing will even give a Miata a second look. The styling is very "cute" and feminine. It is also greatly overshadowed by the other coupes it competes with, Honda S2000, Audi TT, BMW Z4, etc. Everything else it competes with (even the TT) may not be as good a performer or as good in the "bang for the buck" category, but they all look a lot more aggressive and masculine (even the TT which is a stretch to call masculine).

So, yes the Miata is a fantastic car and no one into cars can deny that. However, if you are soliciting a styling opinion ("girl cars" are generally defined by their styling) than most people would consider it a "girls car". The problem with your poll is that you are asking two different questions, not two sides of the same coin. Is it a sports car, yes. Is it styled like a "girls car", yes.

Im not using it to defend my car, I just think its goofy when people argue like "cause its gay" or that 2 guys in a convertible is automatically considered homosexual. Im 100% happy with my car, ive driven only a handful of cars that were anywhere close to having the same fun factor as this does.

Long story short, fun cars to drive and can compete in many different faucets from road racing to autocross and everything in between. Who cares if its a chick car or a sports car. Just drive it and have fun and don't worry about what other people think. Hey I drove a purple Geo Metro...
