I don't remember where I read the article, it may have been posted in the 100+ page thread on supraforums, but one of the tuner companies was having serious doubts that the transmission would last a year with their configuration, I think they said they expected it would last a number of *months*. As amazing as the car is, that is a VERY expensive limitation.

Manual trans FTW! (but most likely will not happen)

Well someone who posted in this thread has a bit more insight than we do, and he's very confident in the tranny, so I certainly trust that opinion. But like anything, time will tell.

From the famous line, "You can put all the JDM stuff you want on your car but the steering wheel is still on the left hand side."

Are you the white Scion that tried to race me on 309 and failed miserably a few months back lol. All i remember is a kid in a white Scion from Qtown with deep tint and stock black rims. And his reaction of "Is that turboed!?" when I blew past him.

BTW I'm in love. GTR is o so sexy.

The trans is the weak link...so far. MCR (Japan) has discovered it starts to slip and wear significantly at 600+HP, which they have achieved. So far, reliable sources say the SpecV/Vspec has only a slight bump in HP (I think like 40 on paper). Most of the increased performance from the SpecV/Vspec model is from decreased weight, new aero, retuned suspension, and carbon brakes. I think the goal from Nissan was ~3500-ish lbs. Release for the SpecV/Vspec for the US is still not concrete. I hope we get it.

Also, regarding the trans, it doesn't like the dyno. I think you can only get ~4 dyno pulls and the AWD shuts down. Also, I think it was R&T or C&D discovered after about 5 launches in a row, the trans light comes on and shuts down certain parameters until it cools.

The new GTR is serious...and seriously easy to drive (besides it's large girth). It gives all that Nissan promises. It's an everyday car with super car ability.

Although the process is long, detailed, and expensive...the new GTR is a world platform. It meets all FMVSS and EPA requirements. The only difference between the JDM model and the US model is RHD (of course), language icons, suspension damping, and slightly less hp (I think 8-10hp because of cali 91 octane).

I dont like the new one at all. Looks too much like an Infiniti. The only reason why I would get one now would be for penis size. Sure, its a damn good performing car, but it figures, once it comes to the US... we get the model that blends in with other cars.

Kudos to whoever gets one though. I just wish they would have brought them over a long time ago.

What do you mean blends in? For once, it's not going to be detuned or anything, like we are used to seeing.

the GTR will blend in if you have no idea what you're looking at....the other 97% of anyone who has a clue, will know what it is and droll over it....i would like to know what cars the thing will blend in with though, when you see it in person the car is ****in huge....its def gonna be a dominating presence on the road....
