Evo or WRX... depends on how much money you want to spend.

Or get a Galant VR4 and have some money left over.

The benefits of a WRX would be pretty good performace, snowability (AWD), and so many locals that can give you a hand with wrenching. It will NOT be the most original, but who cares, if you like the car.

Personally, if I could find a Galant VR-4 in decent shape locally I'd spring right on that, but they're not too common.
The MR2's are horrible cars for anything but sunny weather. Awesome, but hello snap oversteer. (IMO)
FD RX7's are AMAZING, but too unreliable. You won't want to deal with that extra burden if something goes wrong.
I like the idea of a Honda with a swap, but I don't think you'll be totally happy with FWD.

My vote goes for either:
DSM A first gen DSM with a couple thousand in maintenance and mods will still keep you under your budget easily.
or WRX... but what did you expect? Get a wagon! hahahaha

Check out both of these WRX's for sale. Both are realllly sweet. Im undecided between which one.

This one looks sweet as all hell, but has more miles then the other one

This one is $100 less and has less mileage

They are both at the same place (i think so, im to lazy to double check). I might have to stop by and check them out.

That's like me saying I'll be fine driving my GSX with slicks in the winter.

Of course, I'm a stay home dad so I don't have to go anywhere when it snows, and that is why it is true.

LOL.

Seriously, I've had plenty of cars and driven plenty more in the snow. The worse cars to drive in the snow have all ways been RWD. With or without snow tires and with or without LSD. FWD cars with decent all season tires beats RWD with snow tires. AWD with high performance tires beats RWD with snow tires. AWD with worn tires is similar to RWD with all season tires.

At least that has been my experience.

I checked out that EvolutionImports, they have some awesome rides.
3 Pulsar GTi-R's(AWD turbo hatch, muy caliente) AND an EVO 1. How cool would that be.

As for the 2 WRX's you listed, I would go silver. Doesn't look modded.

(personally I would steer clear of silver or blue, they are done to death. Look for a black sedan, or a white sedan.)

I was actually shocked about the WRXs that were 8k.
I paid $15,600 for my WRX; used with 53k miles.
