playing with a Nikon D40

I tried the Nikon D40 for the first time this week. Over the weekend, i hit Lansdale for some riding. I love the first pic, but idk what happened with the rest of them, look at the color. Only Highlights/shadows adjusted in photoshop. The last one, the color is completely off and i couldnt get it to look normal, second to last is underexposed. comments of the rest?

Your ISO is at the high end of the spectrum. The editing makes me feel like I'm on a bad trip.

You should of got the D40X over the regular D40 Because you have A lot of grain goin on there. But the shots are killer man I ride as well so I can appreciate this a little more.

Lower the ISO next time, and stay away from shadows and highlights adjustments.

the ISO is what caused all that grain?

--im trying to teach myself how to see the highlights and shadows better. im somewhat color blind -- i cant see many different shades of green, blue, brown, and purple sooo from my understanding i make the sky pop a little too much, correct?

Correct.
Keep the iso as low as possible for the lighting situation. If you want the sky to pop out better, look into buying a cheap polarizing filter.
