Wacom Pen Tablets?

Does anyone use a pen tablet? I was looking at the.

Intuos3 4X6
the larger one is more ideal but, going at this for the first time, i don't know i can toss that much cash at something i might not like.

Anyone have any personal experience to share?

I got a really small one a while ago (3x5 or something like that) with a gift card and it was the biggest waste of free money simply because the size was too small. I wish I would've gone with a bigger one. They are a great tool for anyone that seriously draws or does heavy photo manipulation. If you don't do either of those then it's just a novelty item and you might lose interest like I did.

i think this would be really nice to use with Photoshop, as well as illustrator, and even flash, possibly autocad. I spend every day using those programs and think the variable pressure of a pen would be very beneficial. yea I would still probably use my own mouse, i like it.

do you have the 4x6 or the 6x8?

Yea I just ordered it. I was torn between the intuos3 and the bamboo fun. But the bamboo fun is more recreational then professional but it come sin a larger size for the same price. But the intuos3 had double the resolution and pressure sensitivity. I also ordered the travel case since it will be going too and from work, at least until i can get work to spring for it for me.

Needless to say I'm siked!!! i want it now!!! hahaha...

I love mine. I have a cintiq 20wsx and a intuos 9x12. If you do a lot of graphic work they are amazing tools to have.

I just did this. This tablet is pretty sweet. I got used to the absolute positioning pretty quickly. I haven't changed any of the settings yet so i'm sure with some fine tuning i can improve the work flow and the varing line.

I got the Intuos3 6x8 from the B&H booth at Imaging USA in January for a special show price, I think with tax and all it came to $290.

It's definably worth getting equipment at conventions for the deals they offer.

Darn, I'm a bit late in seeing/replying to this thread. I have an Intuos 3 (9x11) that I've litterally only used 3-4 times that I would have been willing to sell inexpensively. Btw, excellent illustration. I was an art/illustration major before I got into video production.
