Price For Pictures??

Last week, I had taken a couple of pictures, posted on a website, and the manufacturer asked how much I wanted to use their pictures for an "advertising campaign" that they were doing. I told him to use them for free, and emailed over the high quality pictures (that are, IMO, amateur at best). How much do you all charge for a smaller company, in a somewhat small advertising campaign?

The pictures are just this and the other side which has a picture engraved...

i would of charged them atleast 50 bucks, but if its professional i could say 100, its not that hard to take pictures of products. if it was like a big event or a picture of real estate id charge more. but honestly i have no clue about prices, im just guessing. i know troll will know

btw what is that background, i always thought it was a rubber mat but it looks like an outdoor table

It is indeed, an outdoor table. I was thinking like $25-50, but at that price, for just two pictures, it wasn't really worth charging them since I don't think highly of it!

the way to go about it if you really wanted to would be to grant usage rights to them (allowing the photos to be used for certain things, a certain number of times, for a certain period of time, etc), and then set a price for that usage.
the other option is to sell ownership of the photo completely to the purchaser, which means you dont own the photo you took any more and need their permission go use it, and you'd generally set a much higher price for this.
if you gave them the pictures with no contract then you still own them and still control usage, and you could pull the plug at any time.

all things considered for a simple shot i agree its not terrible to just ask for a discount on parts or a free part or something. if they are looking for more high end product photos, point them in my direction
