Eagles-revisited

Went back to shoot eagles with the D3. Light sucked and it was a pretty gray day overall. I shot these at ISOs ranging from 1600 to 3200. Photos were processed in Capture NX, then off to CS2 for cropping and a levels adjustment. I used an unextended, padded monopod to help me balance the setup while hand holding it for these shots.

Yes, at the dam. I forgot to mention that along with the D3, I used the 300 2.8 AF-S and a 2.0 TC.

Thanks for the kind remarks

pics look good, very sharp and the way that camera handles the noise is great.

Andrew, that was from Saturday. I spent 4 days there trying to get the handle of the way the D3 meters in different lighting. I am amazed at how well it handles the dark bird against the gray/white sky. Also, the camera seems to extract every bit of available light when taking a shot. Shadow detail is amazing while retaining all highlights. So, far, I am very happy with the purchase.

Rich...this is by far, my favorite picture.

#27 is by far my favorite as far as composition...it may be because it's one of the toughest shots to take.
#22 is amazing too, for it's clarity.

Thanks for sharing them, they look great.

It's in Maryland, exit 89 off of I-95S, stay right on the offramp, make your first right onto N. Earlton Road, another right onto Webster Lapidum Road then a left onto Quaker Bottom Road Take that into Susquehanna State Park and turn right onto Rock Run Road. It's called Conowingo Dam.

Let me know when you plan on going, maybe I can come down too. I'd like to play around down there a bit.

Bummer, I have a modeling shoot already set up for this Sunday. I'll probably head down another day then.
