After some research on Strobist, I put together my own lighting setup.

580EX II
Two Vivitar 285HV's
Cactus V2 Wireless transmitters
Macbook for live import

I'll post up pictures using the kit soon when I get a chance to do a shoot!

I'm trying to get some more strobes and PW's but don't feel like spending $400 for another 580ex II

How do you like the 285HV's?

Also, which light stands did you end up getting?

I haven't really used the 285's to give you insight into them. They are not Speedlites thats for sure. But its really easy to just turn the power dial on the front to adjust power.

I got the same stand. I don't love it but it works... the "air cushion" is more annoying to me than anything.
I also think I'll be picking up some more strobes in the near future, we'll see.

i second this idea. i know it's been talked about before, but we should put something together... if we could think up a good location, or maybe once it starts getting warmer.
