I used to work for a Surbaru dealership and this guy, in his 30's, crashed an Sti the first month or two it was out... in the parking lot. It ended up needing two new doors and side skirt from it. That's why they don't let you drive them.

We used to get kids on a daily basis wanting to drive them. Most couldn't afford one. I could understand you being upset if they ran your credit and knew you could afford it and be approved for it and them still not letting you, but I don't blame them for not letting you just drive it no questions asked.

I personally think that it's BS that they wanted to run a credit check before they would even let you drive the car. Let's be honest, this is a $35k car, not a Ferrari. You can walk into any BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. dealer and test drive $50k+ cars without a credit check.

It's the salesmans job to pre-screen the "real" potential buyers from the people just looking for S+G's. If they knew you were serious about trading in your Evo for a new one and I was running the joint I would have tossed you the keys in a minute. If you really are serious about trading, definitely go to a different dealer.

I would think this would be something of concern to Mitsu and the dealer. How can you build interest in a product without letting people try out the product? The last few cars I bought all involved 24 hour test drives before I bought one and only one of the test drives resulted in me not buying the car and none of them required a credit check.

The only way this would be acceptable is that if all 5 were pre-ordered and already sold to customers. In that case you shouldn't be allowed to test drive them. Even then, you should have been treated very differently.

lol@Mitsubishi being scared of their ****ty new car breaking.

Wait for the Rallisport, b/c I really can't see spending 35K on a new Mitsubishi being a safe investment. But I just pissy money anyway..

And btw..that 35/36K..before markup..40K for a "tuner" car, that just outhandles the last one and looks like an aborted hammerhead? No thanks.

see the thing is, when the new lancer came out, i was there the first week. The sales guy just tossed me the keys to the fully loaded gts and said lets go... whats the difference this time? a couple extra dollars?

exactly what im saying but they just dont want 200 miles on the car from every kid on the block driving it and i dont blame them for that. but the fact that they are doubting i can afford it or not when i drive in there with another evo is rediculus

Yea but you have to realize there is at least 30 people who can't afford it who are going to come in as well.

It's a business decision. Rediculous, immature, etc, but still a business decision.

why get rid of your evo for an evo with an unproven engine trans and everything else, not to mention everything i have read and seen says its slower and handles worse. but seriously there is no reason you shouldnt have been able to drive it, you clearly had money to buy an evo in the first place, but hey theese salesman think they have gold

I've read it handles better (the AWD is more advanced), it just doesn't have the acceleration of the old one. At least that's what the common magazine concensus is.

Yes, they are heavier, but the AWD is apparently much more advanced and all of the reviews i've seen lauded it for being able to make time in the corners.

I'll try to find the video.

and for the record the awd system on the x is more advanced, but its hard to say whether or not it outhandles the ix, a ix equipped with the x's awd sytem greatly outperformed that of a factory ix when it was in its developmental stages......but the only thing id say the x has on the ix at this point is braking

Alright let me start off by saying WTF is up with all that plastic on the front end? I guess I'll have to see it in person.

Now back on topic..........As far as driving a bmw or a Audi. Not as many kids go there to beat them but every kid around wants to say they drove the new Evo. So I understand the salesman. Now saying that, if your seious about buying one dont buy it there!

i saw the new evo yesterday at work, i thought it was cool to see one finally in person, but being a huge fan of the last one, this ones doesn't impress me as much looks wise. i haven't driven either so i couldn't really tell you in that aspect. and to J.Ralli thats bs man, i hate when dealerships judge so much. this happens alot too, i know when i went car shopping with my brother he got treated like a non serious buyer at alot of dealerships when he could pay cash for the cars we were looking at.

I'm probably going to head to Mitsu in a little, the sales guy I have knows I'm interested in one and said that I could drive it before, but we all know how that goes. I'll end up waiting for the MR if anything, but I still wanna see them. I test drove a new Legacy on Tuesday, in the snow. They said they wouldn't let anybody go out, but I reminded them thats what Subaru's are made for, what a piece of junk that thing was.
