How do you change it? The dummies version, please

If you are talking about the one that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) like Comcast, gives you, then you kinda can't unless you call them, or leave your modem unplugged for like a day, then sometimes it will grab a new IP adderss.

If you are behind a router, then you can assign a static IP address. I'm guessing you want to change your actual IP address from your ISP huh.

You could also hide behind a proxy.

ok, let's just say, for arguments sake, that my IP address is banned from a forum... what do i need to do to get around that?

If you are banned from a site then using a proxy usually always works. Type "proxy server" into Google and you will get some results.

You can either use online, web based proxy servers, or find a way to acquire proxy software. www.youhide.com is a example of an online proxy site.

has nothing to do with being a big dummy, it has to do with me dating someone the admin doesn't like, and telling him to "get lost", and mind his own business, in a not so nice way. But mostly because I'm dating the wrong person.
