That isn't too far. You could take the train (depending on what size it is)

I'm pretty close to New Brunswick but don't venture down to Philly really. Sorry.

I'll make it simple. Take the R7 Trenton from Philadelphia to Trenton. Hop onto an NJTransit train to NYC but make sure it stops at New Brunswick. I went past the stop yesterday on a trip I took to New York. Taking the train will probably save you time, money, and agrivation, cause we all know its not easy driving in Jersey.
