Anything that they would actually use. Especially if the camera has a manual mode where the user can select aperature, shutter and focus without the camera overriding everything. Does it have to be digital? Film SLRs can be had for under $200 too.

really, i wouldn't go kodak..... software blows, on top of the camera sucking horribly. if i were you i would just save up for something more decent, instead of wasting money.

check out a canon powershot. I think they are pretty decent little cameras.

I have an older Canon S400. Great little camera. Then again, I can't take a good picture to save my soul. I'm looking into some form of digital SLR for an upgrade, and some instructional how-to.

i would LOVE a nikon D80.... the size of it fits so nicely in your hands... its got a great weight (in my opinion, heavier than some), and its just amazing.

they have the D80 sized case for the D40, and i would go either way. i just love nikons and i want to play around with one so badly.

on that note, anyone selling an older nikon?

all in opinion.

i'd say try to borrow various types from your friends, if they would let you.
get a feel for them and see which you would prefer.

the whole camera thing, when asking people... its all on opinion. what do you want it to do?

It's not digital camera. It's a film/analog camera.

As far as new goes... this would be what i would get.

it's only 7mp's but if your main venue for displaying them will be the computer/internet/digital device. It will be more then sufficient. My XT is only an 8mp

I just purchased a Kodak Z712 for our family camera and I have no issues with it.
The Z712 has manual controls for people who are trying to get there feet wet in the field of photography, such as myself, and it is also user friendly for those who just want to turn the camera on and take pics. In the future I will get the DSLR that I always wanted, but I think the Kodak Z712 is a great starter/family camera.
