Anyone work at Best Buy? Broken Plasma TV

To make a long story short, One of my co-workers bought a 42' Plasma tv last week and one of there kids knocked it off the stand, it hit the carpet and the one screen behind the front glass shattered. Will best buy take this back or are they screwed?

Doubt it. Even with a warranty, it usually doesn't cover stupidity.

True, but he bought it a week ago, and they might wonder what took him so long to bring it back.

the more of a dick you act the more likely they will return it. put a big punch in the side of the box (if you still have it). thats the only way it will work.

They tried to take it back on Tuesday (they bought it on Friday) and best buy claimed that it could not have been damaged during shipping to there store. He said that when he did infact open the tv he realised it was damaged and brought it back. The problem is I do not think he damaged up the box enough to make it look legit. I told him to take it back to another best buy or call a regional manager but nothing yet. Maybe if someone on here works at best buy, they can work some type of magic.

Sorry no pics right now.

Stories like this kill me. Sometimes you have to deal with your mistakes and just buy another TV.

No worries here....I have my own business, and worked for a major retail/service company for years. I used to get in a lot of trouble from the corporate folks when I would stand my ground on damaged(by the customer) product. I have heard lots of 'sad' stories.

Anywho, Best Buy will probably exchange it.

HA, I used to be a customer service rep at best buy and dealt with this stuff all the time. I give your friend about a 5% chance of getting it returned. When we sold TV's of that size the box was never kept on the floor and was never damaged. If it was we would open them, check the product and repackage it before selling it just to be sure. The only way it might work is if you get a newb manager who doesn't know better.
