I'm guessing they want to sell all the parts since their original stated intentions are to commercialize the entire turbo V8 setup once it's complete and developed ...and they're pretty close. They're putting it into a custom widebody MkIV Supra intended for those who want to do something with a Supra that's not already played out.

If you would consider the R154 tranny, here's somebody who makes a kit to adapt it to the 1, 2 or 3UZ motors http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/THORThunder-191.asp click the manual gearbox conversion link near the bottom.

i get conflicted reports about the durability of the R154..i know many people in aulstralia use it...IDK...if we are gonna do this swap and spend money on a conversion we might as well pick a trans thats gonna last and has plenty of aftermarket support

Thats why I say T-56. Really stout and tons of aftermarket support.

Very cool. I am definitely subscribing to this thread. I wont build a track GS but I always wanted to make a slightly modified one for a DD and for some reason I would feel dirty owning an automatic.

fully. And, while you are at it, just do a full Cobra Terminator motor (4.6 sc) swap and be done with it!

The v160/61 are two of the strongest tranny's ever built, the r154 tranny is good for 700hp+ (mk3 supra turbo+ others i think), and these are extremely cheap and easy to get. V160 tranny with every single part from Toyota is 10 grand, I can get you the parts list if you want, and thats with a Supraforums discount, into a supra though. There is also the w58, which comes in NA supra's (93-98) but its weaker then the R154 by far, 450 at the most.

The tremec tranny is weaker then the R154. I would stay away from that, if you are going to drift it.
