What are you talking about? Why isn't the bugeye up to par with the newer ones? Its the same exact car as the 04-05 with a different body and it's supposed to have a revised tranny. People break 04-05's just as easy, so they really aren't much stronger at all. If you get a late 03, like mine, then you will have a revised car since it was released in 04....

The car has tons of potential, the question is do you have the cash to fund it. If you really make $350 in 3 days, then im sure you can. Go buy a brand new sti then....

Well the thing with my job is this. Its never guaranteed pay, nor guaranteed days, so I may make 350 in 3 days, and then 100 in the next 2. Then I may not work for 8 days, and then make 300 the first day im back. The valet company gets scheduled for different events, and since there are quite a few of us I never know when I will get to work. When I said up to par, I meant with the trans, im not very informed on subarus, thats why im here asking for advice.

Cleanneon,

glad to see you're looking at a wrx. It's a good idea, especially when winter comes around.. AWD ftw.

Don't listen to most of the haters on this site, do what you please. If you can afford it, go for it.

and 05GT, who are you to dictate what good money is? Some people have different definitions of 'good money'. Don't be such a dick... -sigh-

Pro's:

AWD
Upgrade from a civic
Good potential
Stock turbo

Con's:

Fragile drivetrain (just drive it properly, and you'll be fine)
Used wrx's tend to be beaten on

That's about it.. I think the Impreza is a great car.

I have a iron foot so sometimes even when im not trying to drive spirited my foot just drops to the floor...I dont want to be going through transmissions routinely....is there any transmission that fits the motor thats a bit more beefy?? STi trans someone said, but would those ratios work well with the 2.0t motor since the 6 speed is engineered for the 2.5t STi??

Yes, it will work, but that's atleast $3,500....Not something that's going to be "cheap"

Bro, it's more of the launching of the car, and banging gears. Flooring it in a gear and shifting aggresively, but not banging the gears is just fine.

But the potential is awesome if you have the money to support the habit.
thats what i meant...i just forgot the name

Say you floor it in first from a roll.. or any gear, and you just slam it into second gear by pushing in the clutch and pulling out real fast.. it shocks the drivetrain. Gotta be easy with AWD drivetrain if you want it to last.

Still kinda shaky on the deal...I just like to push my cars to the limit to see what they can really do...thats why I drive mine so hard, but even at the limit I dont get the results I want. I just love to wind it all the way to redline, bang into gear, second to the end, bang into third, push it, heeltoe back to second come into a turn till the tires are smokin, and do it all over again...thats why my car is nice cause I can do that and it doesnt break, im not sure the WRX can take that kinda abuse, not for long anyway

The answer to this is simple

VF34, EJ257 axis stage 2, WRX heads with STi cams, sti trans, pink, walboro 255, front mont 330awhp

Oh wait, that's what I'm doing (less the sti trans)

Anyway to answer the real question. There is no limit what you can do with the WRX. My wagon made over 300 and i beat the **** out of it until it broke. Did it break cause it was a bad tune, bad part, or cause it was making double the stock hp? I don't know.

As far as the realiabily of a stock WRX with light mods. You should have no problem. If you beat your car though it will break. 02/03's can be had for around 13,000 so if you can afford that you should have no problem

13,000x 6.5% (great rate for used car) x 60 month = $254.36/month plus insurance (usually not cheap on a wrx)

The only reason why you feel that you like to drop the pedal to the floor on your civic is that, lets face it, it has dog**** for power. These are my 2 cents.

1. Subarus are good and reliable cars. Just keep up with maintenance and you should be golden.
2. No intake or BOV.
3. Learn to drive a subaru. Yeah, people will chime in and say "Its a stick car", yeah, but there is a feel associated with subaru's 5spd that I can't really explain. If, when you shift, you left the synchros do all the work while driving it, your trans won't break or the chance will be reduced drastically. Driving a honda is NOTHING like driving a subaru; I can speak from experience.
4. The 2.0L is fine. You don't need a built Ej205 for power either. Has nobody ever heard of the EJ207?

It has been proven, on more than just a sparse few occasions, that this doesn't matter when you are running under like 30 pounds of boost. A fully open, N/A subaru block has been shown to be able to handle over 30 PSI reliably (built bottom end, yes, but not re-sleeved or decked)

Sounds shady, I used to work at a valet parking place for sh*ts and giggles wih my friends. Advanced Parking Concepts in Verona, NJ. We had a job everyday if you wanted and there was well over 60 people working. I never saw 350 in 2 days though.

My friend has an 04 wrx and has 40k miles on it, it's on the 1st tranny.
