girlfriend lives in MA..i live in NJ...she has issues dealing with her parents and my parents built her a room when we did the addition on our house...she doesn't want to move to NJ bc she doesn't like it here..however she wants to move into a apartment whereas i'd rather live at home, save my money and be 21 living in my own house. meh complication

see thats why i figured i would try on here, i am and always have been the go to guy for advice, everyone since like 9th grade has always called me at all times of the night for advice, if i was smarter i would have went into psychology but i am an idiot. Hm i used to date my girl who went to university of rhode island and i lived here in pa and we made it work for a while so i will say only the strongest of the relationships last on long distance, which means u 2 are strong, but i gotta tell ya compromise is key in a relationship. Your my age (lil younger) i am guessing so i would say when she graduates and if u need time to save, tell her to live with ur rents for a year or two then buy the house, so its not too too long but you both will have what you want in grasp

i wish she would be more willing. the problem here lies in the fact that she was home schooled throughout high school and stayed with me for 4-5 months at a time every once in a while...and she says that i haven't spent even close to that at her house (which i haven't since i jumped right from hs into a tech institute) and she seems pretty set in getting an apartment...i just wish i could convice her that owning our own house would be so much better than paying 800 a month and never making it our own.

well maybe an apartment isnt such a bad idea, now i am not saying you know troubled waters or anything but an apartment is liek a stepping stone in relationships, you get an apt (even tho i agree its a waste of money) and you live together for a few then you know marriage and house usually come close to one another. so maybe an apt wouldnt be that bad. also keep in mind if you 2 are in an apt you 2 will still be savin money cause your payin half of the rent.

that is true...the only other problem which i might have to get over on my own is i am getting really good job offers here in NJ and i haven't seen a lot of IT jobs near her loc. in MA, which will be a HUGE problem.

well like i said its all about compromise, which means she needs to do some also, nto sayin move to nj but i am sayin this is a direct talk you two need to have and you both make sacrifices

She gets her BA in psych this coming school year (07/08). And I want her to get it on time instead of going p/t to school. Thats a sacrifice I made to be with her.

Now, I'll be honest, I'm a bit terrified at the thought of moving to NYC while she gets her PhD in Forensic Psych and we need to live partially off my income, and partially off student loans

well thats a completly different case, infact all of the advice i gave does not apply to this situation. I think its a bold thing what your doing, this coming from someone who has worked f/t and gone to school f/t for 4 years and honestly i wanna shoot myself so your doing a huge thing for her. Yeah it sucks that you may have to live partially off school loans however you have heard to make money you must spend money. That is this situation. You are going to be in the whole however with a phD in roesnsics, well lets leave it at your girl will be makin close to 100k. You will be fine in the money department then. Just make sure your girl realizes how much you are sacrificin. I have seen **** load of times where one person sacrifices so much and the other person does not even recognize the amount of it. So jus think of that.
