All of these stories are ridiculous. Here’s another one:

A 17 year old boy is at a party.

He meets a 15 year old girl.

They have consensual (oral) sex.

The 17 year old (Genarlow Wilson) finds himself with a set of bracelets attached to his wrists and is thrown in jail. He’s facing a 10 year sentence for child molestation. He’s still in jail as we speak (already served 2 years) while our legal system drags their asses on this. The kid is a good student and maintained a 3.2gpa.

If you are 13 or less, it is illegal to have sex no matter the age of either party (as in rape). If you are between the ages of 13 and 16 (13-16), the opposite party can be a MAX of 4 years older (if they are over 4 years older, it is considered statutory rape). In other words, a 17 year old can have sex with a 13 year old and be free of any criminal charges (no matter how sick that would be). Once the lesser of parties turns 16, anything is legal.
