Oh and that does suck no one in your office is willing to help, kind of sounds like they fear teaching you is going to impact their job security?

We just got a new guy here, he has no clue what our company does, and we knew that from day one, but everyone here including myself have taken our time to explain it to him and answer every question we can.
That's a bit harsh, I don't think a good manager would hire someone that they feel cannot grow into a position or become good at it. That's why there is a hiring process (I hope).

Keith, my best suggestion would be to find someone that sells well and shadow them. After you get use to the process you can start throwing your own spin on things and do what makes you comfortable. Everyone has a boss, that's what I meant. Try to relate to the head honcho who wants whatever advertisement, you need to almost draw out and analyze what they want and need.

And FYI now you work near my house! We should all go out to lunch sometime!

Do you have a customer list for your territory? Based on the information given, it sounds like a lot of your quota can be made on recurring business. This is where relationships are key. Call, introduce yourself, and build value for yourself. Ask them if they are satisfied with the service you are providing them and listen to their response. If it is positive, thank them for their business and let them know not to hesitate to call you with any concerns or questions. If it is less than stellar, ask them what you can do to help them turn it around. You can always fall back on the fact that you are new and were not the one that "wronged" them. However, you can make things right and that will build strong loyalty.

I have a huge quota and roughly 25-30% of my sales are to existing clients.

hey Optimus Prime might have been giving him some real good adivce there.

what exactly are you selling Buster? Is it over the phone or person to person, to a company? There is alot of different things you can be looking at. Why dont you see if CCP has a nite class or something you can take on marketing and sales. Might be worth a shot.

I agree there is no better sales person then Optimus Prime!!! In all reality im not a salesman but i can sell ice to a Eskimo baby! You have to come at these people like your the best salesman ever. Rember if your confident and a lil ****y about your product your customer will feel like there buying from the best. Dont let them see or hear you stumble or second suess yourself. Good luck, you'll get it.

remember your ABC = always be closing
AIDA = attention, interest, decision, action
like 4drstunner said, be alittle ****y. act as if. act as if you own the company, act as if you have a 12 inch ****, act as if your the president. don't studder, don't think about it twice. lift up your skirt, grab your nuts and run with your decision...def no double thinking/taking
a sell is made on every call and every meeting, either you sell them your product, or they sell you an excuse on why they cant...it's up to you who actually makes the sell
remember, if you actually want to succeed ur gonna have to work hard. your not at the office to make freinds. your not there to save the ****in forrest. work your ass off and let it be known that your a hard riding ****sucker that wants to make more money than the guy next to ya and it'll all come together. don't expect vacation time, and if you do get it anyway work through that **** too cuz the no one else is going to so you'll catchup/be ahead. if you want vacation time i know there's a ****ton of schools in new york city that'll hire just about anyone with a heartbeat.

not sure if this helps, but works for me

I think part of the problem is that were closing on a deadline that no one is going to meet. it could possibly be a 50k loss. Theres a few people helping and I thanked them alot for it, but most of them cant make time for me. I understand that they cant but most of the time its just a simple question. I just dont want to make a guess with someones money.
