they wear anything but american style armor. and 99% of them dont wear fatigues. not to mention everybody uses everybody elses weapons, I used to carry a saw and a m9 but im pretty sure you wouldnt confuse me for italian or belgian

If anything the security guys would get confused for SF, CID/OSI or CIA spooks since they dress in the same manner. I'd bet 90% of Iraqis know they are American or think they work for us. Anyone not from the middle east, sticks out pretty easily in Iraq.
They really dont take the load off of American troops. They normally guard local leaders and companies with assests in country, something we rarely do.
Blackwater normally only takes people with a decent law enforcement or military infantry style background. (We get a fax from them every other week)Any company that takes people without that experience level is something you dont want to be a part of. Join blackwater or any other companies and I give you a 75% chance of coming home in a mason jar. Aint worth it.
Go catch snow crab or something.

Word. I wasn't planning on joining.

The reason I was interested was because of a discussion I was having earlier today. I was talking to a person about the war and they said well, it doesn't matter what congress does, Bush will have his way regardless, he will just continue to use Blackwater Mercs. I knew there were private security companies guarding valuable targets but they were saying that they were actually fighting the war. I had no idea if this was true or not.

well if this helps at all, in the two and a half years i spent in country, I never once saw blackwater on the ground. i saw plenty of the other pmcs, mostly eriny's. and eriny's is mostly guys from the english kingdom (uk, ireland, scotland, new zealand, and of course aussies) good guys to have on your side but at one point we were supplying them with ammo because they couldnt get any through the company

That is why I am a bit skeptical of them. If a person looks American and is randomly shooting at unarmed civilians it is going to affect our standing with Iraqi people.

If you take the politics, racist attitudes, and stereotypes of the region into account they probably actually think they are Isralies... remember that many Iraqis dont even believe they are fighting Americans but think they are fighting Isralies who just have American support and equipment.
