Any HVAC specialists here?

Just wondering if anyone has a baseline price for what it would cost to rezone my house.

Currently, it's zoned out like someone was smoking crack. The 2 upstairs bedrooms and the 2 downstairs bedrooms are zoned together, and then the rest of the upstairs and the rest of the downstairs are zoned together.

The way I want it to be set up is all upstairs is zone 1 and all downstairs is zone 2.

Any ideas?

Well, actually, a lot of people zone the house like that for a very good reason.

You spend a vast amount of time in the bedroom, and at night, when everyone is sleeping, there is no sense to (in the summer) cool the entire house. You just want to be cool in your bedroom. In the day time, when you don't use the bedrooms, why cool them? Or, in the winter, you want to keep heat lower in unused parts of the house, while in the bedroom, you may want the temp. a couple of degree's warming. During the daytime, you don't go in the bedroom so why spend money to heat them? No sense in heating parts of the house that aren't used at the time.

I can't help with the price though, just throwing out my two cents (as well as HVAC technicians that I work with) of how it's not such a bad thing. It's actually a very wise way of zoning.

It just seems like it would be a bit more trouble than it's worth, due to us having different preferences of temperature. ****, if it could be zoned to 4 (2 upstairs rooms, rest of upstairs, 2 downstairs rooms, rest of downstairs) that'd be perfect. Or even 3 since there's less space upstairs, just zone it as 1 and the downstairs break it into 2.

I guess I'll just have to see how it plays out when we finally get there next week, but I see it as an issue, but if HVAC techs say it's not bad, well, guess I'll give it a go.
