TST Ruined My Life!

if i didnt have so many clicks on my camera id sell you mine. im done with this d50 crap haha. chaz has a fever, and the only prescription is more megapixelzzz.
ok it all depends how much money you wanna spend and how much you are willing to learn. the higher end models like a d80 or 200 has more buttons options etc...basically a d40/50 is going to be easier to use at first than a 80/200. and im just using nikon as an example since thats what i shoot with. canon's are nice, but i dont like the way they feel. which is important also. get someting you feel comfortable with in your hands. bryan told me that and was probably the best advice i got from anyone. as for the nikon's out today the new thing is the d40 and d40x. im not a fan of them cause they are for bitches. smaller than a d50 and it doesnt have the status lcd screen. so all you information (exp, aperature, etc) you have to look thru the view finder for. howeverrrrr, the d40x is a cool idea, 10mp, faster burst mode, and can go down to an iso of 100, but its still a lil bitch camera. if you have large hands, this camera will feel goofy.

I have a Rebel Xti, and I love it. It's very user friendly, which is good for me because I didn't know too much about photography when I first bought it. I've heard people complain about it feeling too small in your hands, but I have large hands and I don't have any problem with it. If you don't mind spending a little more money, the 30D is a larger camera body and has a much better grip.

I'm probably not near you but you're welcome to test out my Canon bodies. I have one from each level - entry (350D), prosumer (20D), and pro (1D MKII) with an assortment of glass, filters, & strobes.
I prefer Canon due to their superior autofocus system in their pro bodies, in addition to their telephoto lens selection. It suits what I shoot (automotive motorsports). Canon's high ISO image quality is also superior to Nikon's. Nikon has a better wide angle and prime lens selection. The Nikon bodies are also more user friendly for a strobe system for the beginner.

I love my Rebel XT. Really easy to use and learn. You can find them for real cheap online with the kit lens for under 700. check dell.com. i got mine with a 1gb cf card for 702 shipped.

d50, cheapest/best for the price, then get the best lens u can afford. dont buy an expensive camer and a cheap lens, u can always upgrade ur camera and use the lenses u already bought, u can find some decent used lenses too.
