Back in my day you did 6 hours to get your permit when your 16 and you just got it at 17 regardless.....or something like that it was too long ago lol. I don't think you can pass the permit portion of getting licence unless it's for a motorcycle and you have a regular licence already.

what state do you live in? Cuz PA i was 17 and still had a permit. You have to have a permit for 6 months then you can take the liscence test

in washington you get your permit at 15 and a half, then you have to keep it for 6 months without getting a ticket ( you don't even have to drive, just have to have it ) then on your 16th birthday you can get your license
i'm not sure how different it is here, but i'd say get it just so you can drive when you have the chance

Ah, the thought of 15-16 year olds behind the wheel scares me. But really its no better then most of the people on the road now. I know in NJ it got really werid with their licensing stuff. When I was 16 I got my permit and then at 17 took the road test and got a full license. That was the last year they did that. They moved to some graduated bs that you dont have a full license til 18 now.

Dude...Do the paid instructor classes! It saves you a good chunk of cash on insurance. Same for the 20hr classroom courses.
But you still didn't answer what state you were in? In Pa, when I got mine 4 years ago, you got permit at 16, 16.5 you could take the drivers test (assuming you had a signature that you did 50 hrs behind the wheel). Then at 18, you get your provisions removed. But honestly...For yours and my car's safety, get some experience and take a defensive driver course! |
