LOL. Well, I do sales/tech for a rod manufacturer so I see them on a daily basis.

if you put that carbon over a foam tube, the foam will suck up resin and it will be stuck inside

So I left out the little secret of taping and waxing the insulation. I don't want to give everything away here.

You know you CAN buy mandrel bends right??I wish you luck getting some kind of bead on the end of the tube, otherwise it will just blow the couplers off..I would certainly hold off on that until after you make all the plumbing in metal..And you are going to use a single walbro on a turbo system that will make over 600hp?? You are also going to need valve springs and retainers for your head if you want to go over 8000 reliably..Don't take it the wrong way but I just would not want to see something bad happen to your car..

The reason for the CF pipe is a custom turbo setup and I don't have a manrel bender to make intercooler piping. Also I just like to do things by myself

Vacuum is only used to pull out some excess resin to reduce weight. So you can skip on the vacuum. Lots of manufacturers use the vacuum plus an autoclave to reduce further weight.

Looks like some good stuff. I have a Walbro pump and that thing is loud as hell. Good pump though. Good luck with that carbon. It's tough to work with if you don't know what you're doing. Definitely post finished pics though when you get it done.

in composites a vacuum bag is used to pull layers of the material together for strength

I know you can buy the pipe. Right from JC whitney even. I just want to try something custom that no one else has. I figure that i am just going to double back the carbon on the edges to try and have something the clamps wont slide off.

Once I max out the Walbro I will switch to Buschur's double pump system. That is the plan right now anyway.

I am not going all out right away guys. At this time I am aiming for 450-500. Remember I am still on the stock MAF at the moment. Once fall hits the entire motor will be built and I will run the AEM EMS. Only then will go for the big numbers. I dont want my car down for that long right now. Also, I am not trying to go from 350hp to 700hp in a week. Upping the power gradually so the car doesn't get away from me and I do something stupid.

I wonder how much strength difference there will be without vaccuming it. I do plan on doing multiple layers, but I don't have a certain number planned just yet.

I do have access to some kind of heat shink wrap stuff. once you pull the carbon tight and resin it you pull this tube over it and use a heat gun to shrink it and then cut it off when you are done. Me and LicensedToThrill tried it, but it didn't like to go around bents. I dont think I can use it for that harsh bend of the lower IC pipe

i use a high pressure vacuum on a tooling surface and keep pressure on it for like 5 to 10 minutes per layer
