It's all really sad.

The Rev. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson met with Moonves on Thursday to demand Imus' removal, promising a rally outside CBS headquarters Saturday and an effort to persuade more advertisers to abandon Imus.

Sumner Redstone, chairman of the CBS Corp. board and its chief stockholder, told Newsweek that he had expected Moonves to "do the right thing," although it wasn't clear what he thought that was.

The news came down in the middle of Imus' Radiothon, which has raised more than $40 million since 1990. The Radiothon had raised more than $1.3 million Thursday before Imus learned that he lost his job.

"This may be our last Radiothon, so we need to raise about $100 million," Imus cracked at the start of the event.

Volunteers were getting about 200 more pledges per hour than they did last year, with most callers expressing support for Imus, said Tony Gonzalez, supervisor of the Radiothon phone bank. The event benefited Tomorrows Children's Fund, the CJ Foundation for SIDS and the Imus Ranch.

Imus, whose suspension was supposed to start next week, was in the awkward situation of broadcasting Thursday's radio program from the MSNBC studios in New Jersey, even though NBC News said the night before that MSNBC would no longer simulcast his program on television.

He didn't attack MSNBC for its decision _ "I understand the pressure they were under," he said _ but complained the network was doing some unethical things during the broadcast. He didn't elaborate.

Seems more ppl supported him than not, and regardless of his radio show, i bet $40 million is more than Sharpton or Jackson have ever contributed to any worthy cause.

lol, i wish a bunch of white ppl would protest Jackson, Sharpton, and even Wendie Williams, the more i look at all this, the more unfair it seems...

Reminds me of the speech Ed Norton said in the movie the 25th Hour, if you have seen that movie, you know EXACTLY what Im talkin' about.

Im just curious as to what music the members of the Rutgers Womens basketball team have on thier Ipods.... because as long as its written in a song and spoken by someone of the same skin color, its accepted, even celebrated, right? And why is it any black comedian can stereo-type white people without any repercussion? Reverse racism is acceptable? Black culture perpetuates the same things they are fighting against, its hypocritical and wrong. R. Kelly had sex with minors AND video taped it, its disgusting, morally repugnant and he's a public figure yet he's still reveered in the black community. What sense does that make??

True, Imus went too far and he should be punished but this media circus is ****ing ridiculous.

i can sum this up in a few words "people r idiots". i still dont get how all the white jokes r ok, but as soon as som1 says somthin about a black guy he's automatically racist. whenever som1 says somthin 2 me i think that is racist i really dont give a **** cuz it jus makes me feel like i have more class then them. as for the sex tape, im guessin the more crimes and stuff u do the more rep u get in the rap n r&b world. and i doubt that was really R kelly in those tapes, but u never know now n days cuz like i said, people r idiots.

honestly, as rude as his comment was, and as much as those girls didnt deserve it, i dont think that anything is going to really get done about it to change the opinions of the general american public. especially in flyover country. no, im not racist. yes, i have black friends. but the point of it is that he screwed up, he's fired, we can all let it go now. people make huge deals about phrases and slang that i hear in a high school every day when there is probably more important stuff happening that we dont know about.

You may be trepidatious about saying what your really feel...but Im not. Basically, Affirmative Action is irresponsible. Someone should get a better education/job based on their ethnicity and not personal merit? Bull****. You want a good education? Earn it. You want to bank a six figure salary? Work for it. Atleast thats how I was raised. I bust my ass for EVERY THING I have while others sit back and wait for the hand outs because "opression is still a factor in todays society"? Ridiculous. Shut up and get a job.

/end rant.

Today Don Imus was fired for calling the Rutgers University basketball team "nappy headed hos". Sure, that was inappropriate, but did the punishment fit the crime? Maybe we should look at the two guys who pushed this issue until Imus was fired.

Jesse Jackson says it's a question of morality, and what's right and what's wrong.

Just so we're clear:

Imus Calling Black Women "nappy headed hos": Wrong.

Jesse Jackson calling Jews "Hymies" and referring to New York as "Hymietown" : Right. (Washington Post, 1984)

Imus Calling Black Women "nappy headed hos": Wrong.

Jesse Jackson having an affair and Impregnating Karin Stanford, then using rainbow coalition funds to pay her $40,000 and purchasing a $365,000 house to keep her quiet: Right

Jesse Jackson not paying child support for this child, and not visiting her: Right

Jesse Jackson Saying Duke La Crosse Rape Suspects who have been aquitted "deserved the negative attention" because they weren't acting morally by hiring a stripper: Right

I'm glad we have someone with strong moral values like Jesse Jackson to make sure nobody makes racist jokes on radio stations!

Thanks for showing us what's right and what's wrong Jesse.

And who can forget Al Sharpton, another strong moral figure who knows the power of words:

After District Attorney Steven Pagones failed to prosecute white suspects for raping a black girl (because evidence showed the story was fabricated) Al Sharpton accused Pagones Himself of raping the girl. Pagones successfully sued him for Defamation. Right

But it gets better:

Imus Calling Black Women "nappy headed hos": Wrong.

In 1995, Sharpton led a protest in Harlem against the plans of Freddy's Fashion Mart, a Jewish-owned clothing store, to expand into a black neighborhood. Sharpton told the protesters, "We will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business." Three months later, an armed protester forcibly entered the store and burned it down, killing himself and seven others. Right

Thanks Jesse and Al for showing us what's right and wrong. I'm glad we can finally see the light now. I'm glad you guys stopped this guy, and all his charities for sick and homeless children, that will now dry up. Thanks guys!

I'm pissed that they took the simulcast off the air, I actually watched it on occasion when I was up that early...

I think he needs to run for president now...I'd vote for him.

Check this out ppl, I'm black and I don't really give a fu** about politics but I'll try and respond to some of this. SO let's start with Imus' statement, He called the girls "nappy headed hoes". I mean when I first heard the sh** I was like "SO" they probably are. I actually could see where he came from, after a long basketball game these girls are sweating and their hair is wild and all over the place. I honestly don't think he should have said it because of how ppl would blow it up, but these muthaf**s take **** too seriously.

Al Especially, that man is all about being in the public eye. He pulled his daughter over and was supposedly offended, by the comment but if his buddy on the block would have said that sh** they would be laughin' at that sh** over some beer or sumthin. Jesse I don't even wanna talk about that dude, I have nuthin to say about him. I really think most of these ppl these politicians are here for their own good and as long as they don't fu** wit my money I don't want anything to do with them.

As far as reverse-racism, I don't think their is such a thing. You are either racist or you aren't, you don't have to be a certain ethnicity to be racist. I do however believe in hard work and working for what you have, it's only fair. I don't ask anybody for sh** it and I would rather have it that way than to be handed everything and not know the value of it. It may hurt me to some extent because I refuse to let ppl see when I'm struggling but I can only be a better man for it.

And I'm spent
