Springfield XD40?

I am looking to buy one shortly. Should I buy it or go with something else 40.

i dont know why everyone is obsessed with 40 or 45 cal. You listen to too many rap songs...

get a good 'ol 9mm. Holds more ammo, ammo is cheaper (so you can actually be effective with it) and the 9mm is just as deadly.

I have an XD9mm and it hasnt FTF or stovepiped once in the 2500rds ive had through it. Its accurate as hell too, I shot a 2" group my first time to the range with it at like 15 yards with no formal training.

if you are hell bent on the 40 then I would say def go with the XD.

I agree. "oozies" are cooooooool.

EDIT: I guess I'll add something.

When you say get it or go with something else, you have hundreds of other choices. So you want a .40? Why not a .45? What purpose will the gun serve? What price range?

(I'm an XD hater so I say skip it, it's over hyped all because they buy in to the magazines). The first time I RENTED one, lets just say it jammed a couple of times within the first 50 rounds. I know it's not the norm and I get tired of typing it, but it left a sour taste in my mouth and I would never rec. the gun to anyone. It is comfy though.

Also, why a handgun?? For a couple hundred more, perhaps an "assault weapon" would be (is) the better buy, since the price will undoubtedly go up in a couple of years. How about a nice shotgun? I like variety.

My next one is an xd40 compact. They're great guns.

BTW, it isn't about rap songs, its about stopping power. As for "holds more ammo", how many gun fights do you intend on getting into where you need a 50 round magazine?

It's about a lot more then just stopping power (for example, the 9mm in similar sized guns has less perceived and actual recoil). Here is a cool article..although I'm disappointed that the 5.7 wasn't included!

Anyway, I'll stick with my Glocks.

If you want a .40 get a USP

I have an XD9, and love it. I bought it before they became "cool", so it was a smoking deal when I got it.

stopping power is the single largest firearm myth that is mainly perpetuated by people that know absolutely nothing about firearms or ballistics and is usually heard being muttered by some wannabe who has probably have never even handled a weapon.

Its a myth, it has been disreguarded for generations as a fallacy to anyone who has actual ties to the handgun self-defense enthusiast community.
