Your hand will be bloodied but it won't take your fingers off. When the slide recoils, the sheering can easily tear away at the skin, but the slide isn't about to fly off of the gun. The travel will make for a nice lesion but it won't separate anything. Rather your hand be mangled than shot.

I did martial arts with a police officer years ago and he mentioned this as a technique to disarm and he had to do it once before as well in the field. He just had to bandage his hand afterward and it left a small scar.

and so what do you do when the thief realizes this and therefore stands with the gun outside of the car, making it impossible for you to pin his hand inside of the car?
