Easy there, buddy - we're essentially in agreement. You are absolutely right; instinct is all they rely on. It is mutually exclusive to realizing any consequence of not having those reflexes.

I'll restate a little differently: every species aside from humans do not have the mental capacity to foresee their own death. They may do it out of self preservation, but that is different than doing it because they thought they were going to die as a result of not acting - basically what you just said. Your original post made it seem like squirrels run out of the way of cars because they believe they are going to die if they don't, for example - and that isn't true. Again, we're talking semantics here.

i mean, take it as you will. i just found it interesting. i mean here is a supposed angel saying, its not heaven, its just another form of existence you go into. I believe his main point about life and the afterlife isnt to try and get into heaven while your alive but to learn as much as possible while your here, to enjoy what we have and the earth we were given. He stressed throughout the entire thing that life isnt supposed to be filled with misery and fear. it is supposed to be a chance to experience happyness, love, wonder, and knowledge among other things.

Really... Don't care if I die tomorrow I only worry about the things I might miss. Why dwell on something that is going to happen. Have fun now and time will tell.

Some really interesting points being raised in here. I think i'm starting to come down from my state of confusion. just gotta love life. Think im gonna get drunk and go streaking tonight. and if i get arrested, i can just say i was enjoying life.

I went thru the same weird funk once, contemplating death is part of realising your own mortality and thats scary as ****. I used to think that when youre dead, youre dead and thats it. I feel differently about it now, I dont know if its because of the loss of my Father or my minds way of coping with the inevitable but I believe there has got to be more to life than how we live it. I cant tell you why but some questions just dont have answers.
