It's the Racing on Highways Statute:

Quote:
§ 3367. Racing on highways.
(a) Definitions.--As used in this section the following words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this subsection:

"Drag race."
The operation of two or more vehicles from a point side by side at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to outdistance each other, or the operation of one or more vehicles over a common selected course, from the same point to the same point, for the purpose of comparing the relative speeds or power of acceleration of the vehicle or vehicles within a certain distance or time limit.
"Race."
The use of one or more vehicles in an attempt to outgain, outdistance or prevent another vehicle from passing, to arrive at a given destination ahead of another vehicle or vehicles, or to test the physical stamina or endurance of drivers over long distance driving routes.

(b) General rule.--No person shall drive a vehicle on a highway in any race, speed competition or contest, drag race or acceleration contest, test of physical endurance, exhibition of speed or acceleration, or for the purpose of making a speed record, and no person shall in any manner participate in any such race, competition, contest, test or exhibition.

Then they wouldnt write exhibition of speed on the ticket they would write Racing on highway. So what can get you that? Revving your engine or doing a burnout?

They can write whatever they want as long as they list a statute number or check one off. It's a description of what part of the statute applies.

"unlawful speed contest, exhibiton of speed" = the racing statute.

Also, drew, i couldnt find a statute for "exhibition of speed" anywhere, was that what it was called on the ticket? And what was it for, burnouts or something?
it was in washington state, i don't know what it would be here but it was just listed on the same ticket as unlawful speed contest

that's actually exactly what it said

edit: just got back story on the ticket..

if anyone lives in the seattle/tacoma area ( near ft lewis ) there is a krispy kreme near I-5 at the tacoma mall, before it was there it was the spot every friday were everyone came out to show off their cars and then run on I-5, well when people ran a lot of people would park on the end of the lot and stand at the edge of tacoma mall blvd to watch people race. i think the exhibiton of speed part was for showing off like that, we actually got nabbed because we were spotted by an officer going over the bridge ( i guess 4 cars lined up at a dead stop on the highway raises some concerns )

anyways, i was younger and really stupid. i was so pissed off and blamed the police officers for "targeting" me and being jerks, once i got older i realised how stupid it is to bitch and moan when you do something blatently illegal and then complain about it. live and learn i guess. wish i had thought twice about it when i was 16 and not paying almost 500 a month for insurance

For all you West Chester Guys....

Where's all the warnings about speeding on 202 through Treddfyrin Township.

3 tickets and $580 later, I still can't sit down.

What chances do I stand when I go to court?

They are not all moving violations when I get pulled over, most are just for tint or no front plate, but whenever I take my car out I usually get one or the other.

I did get pulled over and issued 7 tickets at one time!

Racing on the Highway, wreckless driving, speeding, driving with a provisional license after 12am, no front plate, obstruction of view, and tint. Needless to say, the towed my car on the scene and they impounded it! Haha, I guess that's what I get for doing what I did. I really thought I could get away since they got the other car first, but they had the road blocked up 2 miles ahead and that's where they got me. That was one hell of a walk home, lol.

Besides those, I got 75mph in a 50mph zone, and 2 carless driving's. Needless to say, I only have four points because I went to AAA driving school which knocked off two and I have ONE SUPER SICK LAWYER! I also used both of my "unsafe" driving things where you pay a $250 surcharge and recieve no points.

The only tickets I got in PA last year was my headlights being to bright which he classified as some bull**** and running a red light on the blvd.

I really should take a pic, the tint and front plate tickets are thick like a novel when I put them together.

PS- I wasn't talking about 30 on going tickets, just ones I recieved in the past year or so. I apologize if I made it seem to be anything different.

well i got 2 tickets which i'll try to get a pic later. one is for reckless driving, racing another vehicle(on a two lane road), speeding in a residential area, and maintaining a rate of 80 mph for a mile. the cop didn't clock me in and didn't turn his sirens on so i kept going, he couldn't catch up to me untill i got home and turned into my street and wrote me up for everything in the book. that got me 3 points. the other ticket is for running a red, no points.

another case of young and stupid, i'm only 17.

who gets speeding tickets in philly?

see cop

slow down

laugh while they try to pace you

i got stopped for going 55 in a 40 on my way to work today in ridley, the cop is the same one that stopped me twice before and let me off after giving me some bull**** about how he could arrest me for wreckless driving since it was a school zone ( right, lots of kids at school at 6am on a sunday )

Got both of these in the same night. Racing some kid in a red hatch when I had my old b16 crx. Cop said he pulled me over cause I ended up in the lead.

Ticket one: Careless Driving

Ticket two: 100.3 in a 55

I used to hang them on a door in my room until I moved. I had at least half of the door covered from tickets, and letters concerning court dates etc.
