i dont normally love selective color but i think its an improvement on this one. i think the best scenario would be to reshoot it with 'selective color' in camera, and what i mean is change your perspective so you isolate a single flower with only a green leaf background, get those other 2 flowers out of the frame.

What camera did you do that with...

Like Bryan said...the in-camera selective-color (if you have it) would be the best.

For a first photoshop of it it's not terrible...just really SHARP...needs to be blurry.

I've got a TON of those pictures if you want to take a look.

i agree, too sharp. I might also try to do something where the background colors are jsut toned down and the single flower is full color. I find that when the colors are so far from a gray tone that it comes out looking harsh.

thanks for the tips guys. i tried it again real quick and put it at the top as number 3. i tried to blur all the edges with a layer mask over the flower and took some of the saturation out. does it look any better?

and id go back to shoot it again but its avalon, nj and im in west chester right now for school. i took it around when i first got the camera and was goin through some of my old pics tryin to make them a little better

I would start over with a fresh pic as has been suggested. Go to a larger f stop for a larger dof. The center of the flower is out of focus in the original. Reframe with it being the only flower in frame. Definately angel from the top more, to lose that leaf just in front of the flower and try to get a clean plane of leaves behind the flower "less dark spots". imo
