Its called ReadyBoost. Its basically a technology that determines which programs you use most often and preloads critical files onto the flash drive so that at any time you open that program, its already loaded and waiting for you from the Flash Drive.

It is NOT ram, its simply cache. You cannot up your system memory from a flash drive, but you can (suposedly it works?!) increase the performance of your existing Vista Ultimate install (is it on other versions too?)

When you plug it in for the first time, Vista will ask you how you want to use it. Plug it into a rear USB port, as some older cases have USB1.1 ports in the front.
