dumbass tow truck drivers

ok so as most of us know i got in a lil accident the other day and i need a new rad support, so i decide to get the car towed to my friends shop to get it all done this after noon. the tow truck dude rolls up and we load the car, theres no front bumper on and can see the damage on the lower rad support and how screws are holding it on. he asks me where the tow hook is and i say there isnt one so he says ok im going to put this here (on the broken lower part) and im like umm ok i dont knwo nehting abotu towing cars its ur job. so we get abotu 2 miles away and he pulls over we stop in front of him and start to walk back....

the driver yells your car slammed into my bed and i was liek what? so i walk to the back of the truck and the part he hooked it onto ripped off and the car rolled intot the back of his metal shield thing to stop cars from going into tthe bed of the truck and its alll mangled. so im liek wtf while hes on the phone with i geuss his shop or AAA who i got the car towed through then comes over to me and says umm were not liable for your car because it is modded, so i laugh and say whatever lets go to the shop. so he puts it back on the right way and we get going..

while im in the car i call AA and they say it is totally his fault no matter whats done to my car because if it was "too modded" he shouldnt have taken it, or made me sign somehting at first. so when we get it to the shop i look at it and my exhaust is all bent up, bumper is crakced and paint falling off, trunk all ****ed up, tailight garnish smashed in and im heated at this point so the guy comes over and tells me its 15 for the tow and trys to get me to sign somehting saying that hes not liable, i was like u gotta be ****ing kidding me if u dont get outta here righ tnow im gonna have to punch u in the face so im waiting till the am to call his shop and see whats going on cause i know AAA has my back but i wanna make them pay for it cause its rediculous, what do u guys think?

His fault.

He forgot to have you sign the liability form.

On his head.

should have called the police and got a report on the spot. aaa was unloading my car off a bed and ripped my bumper cover, i called got a report right then and there. aaa gave me the hardest time because they wanted the tow company to pay for it so it didnt **** up insurance but i said i wasnt comfortable with that and id rather go get estimates and get a check. the end result is i got 850 for my ripped bumper cover.

Tow truck drivers fault. He should of had you sign the paper first. A police report would of been nice to have.

I manage a towing/trucking company. People screw things up, and that's what liability insurance is for.

Take photos of your car, explain the whole deal to the towing company manager, and inform him that they'll be repairing any further damage. Stand your ground, but don't come off as a jerk. The manager obviously knows he has a moron working for him, and I'm sure this isn't his first episode.

I'll be cutting a couple of guys loose that have had a couple of damage incidents. There's always a chance of making a mistake, but with time, care, and training, mistakes are minimized.

The guy who towed your car would have towed his last car for me. There's absolutely NO reason not to do a 3/4/5 point tie down when securing a car to a flatbed. He likely had a chain in the front, a chain the back, hit a bump or went around a curve, and the chains loosened up - hence the reason for a 3/4/5 point hookup.

What an idiot. Good luck.

BTW, all tow truck drivers aren't stupid - I have more education than most of your college professors. I do this because I love it. It's fun.

Sorry to hear that man, good luck getting everything fixed. Just make sure to take pictures of everything for evidence and go and talk to the truck drivers boss and explain what happened, I'm sure they have insurance that covers this kinda thing, if not they should be paying out of pocket to fix it anyways.
