Dyno Testing

Hi new here and l am looking for a place to Dyno test my car., My tuner is based in NC ( 10 hrs drive ) and I need to get my car checked so he can do a mailbox reflash.

I have tried a few place locally, xotic did a good job on HP and A/F, but I need to log boost, EGT, Induction temp as well to get all the info he would need. Is there anyone out there who knows where I can get all these channels read and recorded from the OBDII with the HP boost and A/f???

BTW my car is a 2000 Saab 9-5 GT28 Turbo, Stealth FMIC, Wossner Forged Pistons, 50# injectors, Saab T5 cams, 5 Spd Quaiffe LSD, BBS wheels, 3" JT exhaust with racecat, Magnaflow muffler and Saab resonated Sport tip.

Our dynojet can take 4 additional 5v analog inputs and graph them with the dyno plot.

Let me know if you are interested in setting up a time.

I think he means that since they have a dynapack there's no chance of tires spin on the dyno. Not sure though, usually that's not a huge issue with lots of street cars, but I guess it could be.

thats the kind of dyno they have. you get better readings and no friction from tires since u dont use them lol

how do you figure you get better readings? Most people say dynopacks read high and they arent the best for tunning since they dont put enough load on the car. I still dont get the "no friction from the tires" thing......who cares?
Either way a dyno is just a tool and nothing more.

never siad it wasnt. im just saying with this type of dyno since the wheels arent touching the ground/dyno and it is directly in the reader. there is no friction, but what u say does make sense though with the not enough load now thinking about it

Is there any reason why you wouldnt want friction?

Hey, CarV2 in Wilmington -much closer -has a dynopack. What I need is a place that can read boost, A/F, Charge temps, and EGT's and record all in the same read. Also RT is about 10 miles away, agile sounds ok but it a bit of a drive.

Don't need tuning yet. BTW, and there are only like 6 tuners in the world for Saab T7- 1 in the UK, 3 Sweden and 1 Switzerland. Mine is a Swedish tuner in NC the only one in the US ( except for those that travel here once in a while and a few who work with the others.

I have tried a few around here who have looked at the files and said no way, way too complicated...

Eliminating the tire/road contact won't help you actually see how well the car is making power. Dynopacks read higher because they eliminate the inertia of the wheels and tires. So if you just want high dyno readings then awesome, use one of them. But if you want to know what your car will actually do, then put it on a dynojet. power and torque don't mean anything if you can't put it down right. And with a dynopack you'll never know. You should also tune with the wheels and tires on there in order to better optimize the power curves with everything on the car that will be on the street. The dynopack would be awesome if you didn't need wheels and tires to drive around on the street.

Inertia and the tire/road contact are two things that are pretty important when driving a car on the street. So to me, it makes sense to use a dyno that takes these things into account. The closer your test conditions are to real world situations the better they will be.

+1 for a dynojet. Dynopacks just don't seem as safe and are not accurate to 'real world' conditions.

It's good to see some one tuning a Saab. I've always wanted a Viggen, but hate FWD. I'm anxious to see some numbers after your tune. Goodluck!

well actually if you think about it, a dyno reading with friction would be better, because theres never gonna be a point while driving where theres not gonna be friction, cuz tires against the road is friction

Hey, good to hear from you again. Fellas, this car is realy nice. Made more power than i thought it would. Xotic would have did all you asked for.Did he say he could not? What you are asking is pretty easy IMO, for any dyno facility.
Anyway, Xotic is having some issues currently so we can not service ya anyway. Keep us posted, and when you are ready to sell that car, dibs
