a few things to know about memory in general:
The speed of the memory really doesn't affect how fast the camera can take photos for you, since cameras that do shoot high speed rely completely on the built in buffer for that. What the speed will affect is how quickly your photos transfer from the card to the computer. Of course this could also be limited by the speed of your reader or the speed of your computer (unlikely to be a limitation.) Hmm what else... SanDisk is a good company, Lexar too... and I guess Kingston is big but I don't know much about them. Its tough to go wrong with memory cards really, unless they fail on you. So just get a reputable one and you should be fine regardless. Bryan

Also be careful buying sandick sd cards off e-bay there are tons of people selling fraudulant ones there. Check out www.nikonians.com Alot of good info.

yup a lot of the cards on ebay are fakes, so buy from a reputable store. good addition...

I myself have been using SanDisk cards for years and they have never once failed me. Like Bryan said, any name brand card should suite you fine. And as far as size, well that really depends on how much you want to invest in memory and how many pics you really see yourself needing to hold on one card. I too am in the market for a D50, who knows if I'm lucky maybe Santa will drop one off tonight.
