When you put a V6 in a 4cyl car, the tach always reads high because there are more pulses firing from the 2 added cylinders. Stock dash can't compensate for this.
To determine the "real" RPM, just multiply the gage RPM by 2/3rds (4cyl/6cyl) Bill

The 323 is such a red-headed step child. I visit a lot of mazda sites and the 323 is always getting anything but it's original motor. It's common to swap the motor under my hood into it in the states it seems. I've rarely see the heavier 1.8 v6 since it makes the same HP as the BP-ZE. I guess it can't hurt though, add some weight to the front end. Hell, go klze. I think it's wild when the BP-T (323 GTX jspec) gets under there. 180+ HP on single digit boost numbers, traction doesn't exist.
