TurboCharger/SuperCharger: Car Warranty

Hey Everyone. I was considering getting a supercharger for my vehicle but had a few questions. I just bought an 06 Acura RSX Type-S and was told by the dealership that I would not be able to get a TC/SC installed and keep the 7 year warranty. I am just curious if anyone has done a TC/SC set up with a new vehicle still under warranty, and if so, were there any problems when you had issues with the engine & everything. I don't want to get one and F*** myself later on... Thanks.

if you do anything like that to a car, u can kiss your warranty goodbye, it's bad enough they try to find reasons to void your warranty, but if you give them a reason it just makes them smile

Awesome link there Loserkidwac. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is the one i'm familiar with cause DC Sports uses this law when warranties are denied with their Headers. Thanks.

You'll have goodbye to your warrenty very quickly if you add a SC or TC to a NA car. Yeah they are supposed to prove that the part you added caused the other thing to break, but dealers will find ways to quickly link everything together and some bogus reason for why the SC or TC broke something on the car.

This also depends on the dealer. Some are cool while others while quickly claim that you voided warrenty. Granted your not going to get a new engine if you blow it up, but lets say your door actuator goes out, most will still replace that because your added part didn;t cause it to break

if you slap a turbo or charger on it, keep all your stock parts. If you break something, put it back to stock and bring it in. If you do it right they won't know.

Only if I were that smooth.... trust me, i'm not. Knowing me, i'd roll the car to the dealership with no engine.

Well looks like i'm not getting TC/SC for 7 years. Once I actually live somewhere for more than a year, then i'll get a project car. But i'm sure i'll hit you guys up with ideas. Thanks!

NOT TRUE... go to a dealership ( i know acura davis does it) and they warrenty COMPTECH superchargers, ONLY IF you purchase and have it installed at a dealership. Someone i know had this done. And the car is still under warrenty!

Yea comit fraud youll get far in life like that. They wont know that the oil pan is drilled and tapped right. Or that the bolts have been taken off even if you put a new oil pan on. Not to mention all the other bolts they'll see that have been taken off once before

I dont care what breaks the dealer is gonna say that the extra power from the TC?SC caused it. They will win too they have more money than you.

By all means boost it just dont get greedy with cranking it up unless you build the motor up first

You boost that thing and your warrenty is crap trust me Ive been in this game along time

Yeah, i'll have to check with some Acura dealerships around and see what they can do. I honestly want to do all the work myself & not really take it to someone where I can't see what their doing you know? Thats how i've always been with all my vehicles.

gsrboi80 - I totally agree with you there. I don't even want to try and chance it. I'll be fine doing little by little. Who knows, maybe after the warranty is up on my car, i'm sure the standard HP on all vechiles will be like 300hp. hahaha.

Yeah, i'll have to talk to him about it. I've been talking to a few people on the ClubRSX site as well. The 7 year powertrain warranty. There's a million other warranties on it. One of the big perks of buying it. Thanks.
