pa scored an 83

i was saying in another forum about this article; i totally diagree that older people scored high on a written test. id figure middle aged people (40-50) would do better.

i still strongly believe EVERYONE should be retested by written and on the street every couple of years. Like every 10-20 or something.

I agree that the older people would do better on a written test b/c they have more experience, but isn't a road test a lot more important? I think that there are a lot of older people who would fail a road test. Maybe it's just me, but old people frequently cut me off and almost run into me. There definitely needs to be a test every 10 years or so.

For instance, one out of five drivers doesn't know that a pedestrian in a crosswalk has the right of way, and one out of three drivers speeds up to make a yellow light, even when pedestrians are present, the study said.
I wouldn't go so far as to say they "don't know".

Quote:
Speeding increases both the likelihood of an accident and the severity of the crash
I'd say thats a pretty linear curve there. There will be 0 accidents at 0 mph. I'm not an advocate of speeding but this bias gives speeding a bad name.

Quote:
Younger drivers are the most likely to fail a written driving test while those between the ages of 50 and 64 are the most likely to pass.
How young are we talking here? 15? Where's the 65+? I'll bet the "younger drivers" double the seniors scores.

Screw all NJ drivers.

Some dumb ho in a Mercedes SUV almost took my face off with her mirror. So, you know what I did? I punched her mirror with my hand and folded it in.

w0000t JERSEY SUCKS, I have to drive to Mt. Laurel everyday. Its the area with all the richy people who drive expensive cars and think there untouchable. If I drove a beater car I'd let them all hit me and sue them for all there money but since I drive my beautiful Satty I just hit breaks or floor it to avoid the accident.

It honestly depends where you are in a state, if there are a lot of people, there's gonna be more accidents. More in philly than say..washington's crossing. NYC got the worst drivers just bc theres a lot of people.

and yes, you should be re-tested on road, i'm gonna go with maybe every 20 yrs, it would be WAY to expensive to retest every tim u get your license renewed.

I dont agree with that. I used to drive through manhattan on a weekly basis and you really have to be on your toes and be alert when driving through that city. Otherwise you are going to nail a pedestrian or a bus that stops in the middle of the road without warning to pick up passengers. Its pretty much a road race where ever you go in the city, if you do the actual speed limit in the city of 35 you are just going to slow up traffic or get nailed by taxi. Rule of thumb when driving in NYC, "worry about whats in front of you and not behind you". As long as there is no car next you, i mean door to door, if they are at your back quarter pannel feel free to slide over in front of them, they will slow down

VA was in the top 20 #15 P\/\/|\|5 _|00 4|_ |_

Heh. Or not. Whatever, I like driving, and in reality, I think most people in the midwest, whether they scored high or not, would be better to drive with, as when I was out there, the driving was a lot more comfortable and relaxed. People used their signals, went slow, didn't run to the end of a lane and do a last minute merge...in essence, they weren't assholes.
