No one wants a war over there except for hezbola (sp?). By itself, Isreal has one of the best, if not the best equiped fighting force in the middle east. Lets not even discuss the Isreali policy on drafting

In the end, If the Queen had balls she'd be king.

Wow you guys are so WRONG!! Syria's army is nothing compared to Israel. Granted Israel is small geographically, but It's army has more personnel than Syria (look it up). Syria also is Soviet trained and relies more in its missile systems than infantry. I'm not so sure on Iran though.

And second, Hezbolla NEVER WANTED THIS WAR. They most certainly never expected such swift and powerful response from Israel after it's kidnapping of two Isreali soldiers.

And I totally support a revised draft for the US. If you don't go to a four year college after high school, you are drafted. if you drop out of highschool, you are drafted.

Numbers on paper are just that,

There is a big difference between having a army of 18 yr old jew boys & girls who dont want to be gaurding a airport with a HK, and a army of religous zelots who could kill you with 5 lbs. of fertilizer and a stick of bubble gum.

What??

"If you don't go to a four year college after high school, you are drafted. if you drop out of highschool, you are drafted."

So, if mommy and daddy can afford to send you to college, you DON'T have to risk dying for your country? Only the middle class and lower income folks should be put to that task? Holy crapola.

Also, technical training schools are left out of an equation like that - drop $30k, out of pocket on a UTI or ACT degree....mommies and daddies don't send their kids to UTI or ACT...it's out of pocket and student loans for those young folks...and get drafted because you're not part of the college crowd?

That is so wrong in so many ways.

I was stationed in Greece - every male serves 2 years, no ifs, ands or buts. 2 years, and the only choice you have is when during your 18th-25th birthday you want to join up. Your parents have to support you, bring your food, buy your clothes, and everything else, invcluding take your uniforms and do your laundry. You get the US equivalent of $10 a month.

There is no choice in Israel, either, and young men aspire to go into their military from very young ages.

I'm sorry, but the whole idea of "go to college or go into the military" sounds like it comes from a rich kid who had his hot rod bought by the parents and is riding through college on a dream. Must be nice - I'll tell you about my upbringing some day, and where I've served.

Iran could definitely put a hurting on Israel, but i dont think it would be as bad as people think. Israel has a very underestimated military. And like somebody said earlier, if Iran got involved we would be on their asses before they could do any MAJOR damage.

And the Mexico and Canada statement made me almost piss my pants! Dont underestimate your country sir. For one, there are countless missile silos in the upper midwest that would shut Canada up in a moments notice. As far as Mexico....we'd just fire up the F-16's, F-22's, A-10's, B-1's and they would retreat themselves into the ocean!

First off the Isreali army does not use AK-47's or any of its derivatives, ie, AK-74, (I'm assuming u meant AK instead of HK). Second, many in the army love to defend their country. They have tremendous pride in doing so.

Ok, maybe I decsribed my draft plan a little too hastily and left out some details. But, i still beleive that everyone should either get an education to develop technology that wins wars or use that technology to fight in wars. Don't take this the wrong way. I plan to join the army in August. I have just seen too many of me peers with no plans after high school do nothing with their lives but rot away at home.

I was just going to post the H&K acronym breakdown - thanks.

Mexico and Canada? First, most of the Mexicans (living in Mexico, not US born) that are able-bodied are already here. They work here.

What's Canada going to do? Send in their Navy, which consists of two Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a horse, a moose, and two canoes?

I think justification is secondary to pragmatism here. Israel is between a rock and a hard place, they could have either gone easy on them and done some sorta prisoner exchange... which would have lead to bolder raids and more violence and Israel would have just looked weak. Or they could have taken the route they have taken...

Either way its lose lose for Israel hard to say whats "right"
